4.0 out of 5 stars good product, worth the price
The main thing to know about doing at home electrolysis is to start out on a low setting. Most people will scar for long periods of time if you go over a 5. I keep mine set to a 3 or 4 and I have super thick hairs. I made the mistake of starting out on an a 7 and 8 in some areas and am still healing 6 months later, luckily it was an area that can be hidden by clothing...

3.0 out of 5 stars If you have the patient ....this is the product for you
This product works ok for the price, but you have to have a lot of patient, but that's the problem with that method of electrolysis anyway. There's two kinds, this type and the type where you don't need moisture to operate the machine. I have gone to a professional that uses this method and she told me right of the bat that they method just generally takes more time...

The main thing to know about doing at home electrolysis is to start out on a low setting. Most people will scar for long periods of time if you go over a 5. I keep mine set to a 3 or 4 and I have super thick hairs. I made the mistake of starting out on an a 7 and 8 in some areas and am still healing 6 months later, luckily it was an area that can be hidden by clothing. Also, under no circumstance should you go over a 4 on the face, usually stay between a 2 and 3 for the face.

Other tips are to buy lots of extra stylet tips. If the tip bends its no good and you'll need another one.

Replace the battery often. The device is most effective with a well charged battery.

Sometimes if the hair is really thick you'll have to hold the stylet tip in for up to 1 minute. Turning the stylet tip and moving it up and down can help.

You might need to do several treatments if the hair is really thick, so don't feel discouraged.

It took me a while to get used to using the product but I'm starting to get the hang of it and it is working. You just need to have patients and a lot of time.

And last but not least, it really doesn't hurt. It might sting slightly but it's not painful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very pleased..., July 28, 2007

I received the home electrolysis almost three weeks ago and used it immediately. I guess I had the setting set to high and I burned the skin slightly and formed a few scabs where the skin had been pierced. I have had similary experiences at the salon as well so it was nothing new, but I have noticed no hair regrowth as of yet and its been almost three weeks so I am very pleased with the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Th ebest thing I've bought all year, February 11, 2008

I love this product. It works so well. Yes it is tedious, and there is a little discomfort, but it's no more painful than plucking and you don't have to shave ever again (which I used to do every other day). It's the best thing and I don't know how I lived without it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A test of patience., July 15, 2009
This review is from: Clean + Easy Deluxe Electrolysis Home (For Coarse Hair) (Health and Beauty)
I bought this and it works to its desired level.

Pros: It saves you about $200 an hour from seeing an actual electrolysis technician. It is easy, quick (on a per-hair basis),convenient, and a pretty fast learning curve.

Cons: In the same way that it is quick on a per-hair basis, it takes forever to do a whole section of ones body. 45 minutes barely finished a 1 x 1 patch. Second, the burns, the chances of getting burnt are high in the beginning. Third, the amount of time it takes to clear an area!

Other thoughts: Make sure you are following the instructions and moistening your fingers prior to use, and keeping them moist. You know the hair is done when you tweeze it and it slides right out and you don't feel a thing. Something else to bear in mind, make sure the probe is entering the follicle, you do not slide it against the hair, it has got to slide right into the follicle. Push it against the base of the hair, when it has penetrated the follicle two things should happen 1) the machine will emit a high-pitched tone, and 2)You will feel a tingle of varying intensity based upon the power setting you have chosen. I noticed that a whole bunch of white fluid bubbled out of the follicle when I did it, but it washes away. The thing is, is that it takes time and patience. Ultimately I have decided to switch to a campaign of body waxing, simply because it is faster, but the electrolysis is still on standby for those few-rogue hairs.

I have gone to a professional that uses this method and she told me right of the bat that they method just generally takes more time. That being said it works pretty good, machines get rid of the hair and if you don't have my type of hair it doesn't grow for a while. My biggest problem were to little needles that it came with, constantly bends and you have to replace them, but if you don't mind that than you are in business.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product...some advice for better results, June 13, 2009
By
I didn't have this brand, but it looks like the one I had, so was probably bought out by another company.

Important suggestion #1:
If the hair is not in a growth phase, the treatment won't work. Do NOT pull out the hair and don't cut/shave it to the surface of the skin. simply, trim it back just a bit and give it a couple of days for regrowth to be stimulated. It helps to have a bit of length just to get a sense of the correct angle to insert the stylus. Then, go to work.

Important suggestion #2:
Do not store the unit with the battery in it. Granted, I left mine unused for a VERY LONG time, so because the battery was inside, battery corrosion damaged it so badly that things broke off when I tried to take the battery out.

Best of luck!

Lee

4.0 out of 5 stars Effective, but takes patience and time, June 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I started using this product back in the 90's and am familiar with most of the experiences in the other reviews. I've had success on some hairs and had to retreat others where I hadn't reached the hair follicle the first time. I've read that some of the follicles grow at odd angles so are harder to reach. It is hit or miss. The needles seem to be a bit more customer-proofed to keep one from 'piercing the skin'; the needle is retractable so it isn't able to enter the pore so I've had to superglue the needle at its base to keep it from moving while I insert it into the pore. The beeping noises don't bother me; the instructions set the expectations for the product. Overall I think it is a good product and works pretty well; but you are not going to be successful with every hair the first time and unfortunately, you are going to bend the needles from time to time. It can be painful depending where you use it but the trade-off is the hair does not grow back if you reach the follicle and kill it. Only half my chin hairs grew back from last time; so I am working on them little by little until they are gone. Good product overall if you are willing to be patient and endure the way the product works.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Salt Water Threw Me Off!!!, July 23, 2009
By

It definitely works but the salt water makes it hard to focus on the root of the hair. If there is too much salt, it shocks too hard and too fast. The stylus sometimes moves in and out of its opening, making it hard to insert it into the follicle at times. If you miss your follicle you creat a huge gash in the location at hand. As a result of all this hassle, I will revert to seeing my cosmetologist :).

Do not buy. Unit is poorly made. Mine broke after 4 months. Cord detached from needle. Process is very long and tedious and does work but design flaws are numerous. Waste of money. Initially I thought better of it but after it broke so quickly I felt compelled to revise my comments.

1.0 out of 5 stars Left scars and didn't eliminate hair, August 10, 2008
Each hair took at least 10 tries to remove (it was only supposed to take one.) It was painful, left horrible scars, and each and every hair grew back. I DO NOT recommend this product to anyone. I was very disappointed with it.
