More About the Author

Dan Gheesling is a public speaker, author, coach, and winner of the CBS reality series Big Brother.

Since his two seasons on the show, he's been called the "best Big Brother player of all time" and "reality TV's answer to Dexter Morgan, Walter White, and Tony Soprano" by Hollywood.com.

In the same breath, Entertainment Weekly called Dan the "nicest winner in Big Brother history" and compared his ability to influence to "George Clooney in Ocean's Eleven and Paul Newman in The Sting."

Dan spends his working days speaking about leadership at universities across the country. When not coaching others on how to hone their management skills, Dan loves playing video games and spending time with his wife, Chelsea, and Maltipoo, Frank, at their home in West Bloomfield, Michigan.

You can see what Dan is up to on his Daily Vlogs (http://www.youtube.com/DanGheesling), on his blog (http://www.dangheesling.com/blog), or on Twitter (@DanGheesling).

This is a wonderful book. Well written, easy to read and made me smile more times than I can count. :) Dan uses examples from his own life, that made it more personal, that to me, only shows him to be truly invested in wanting to help you understand his "6 duties" in the book. Truly invested in wanting to reach his readers, and help them. I read the entire book in one sitting. Dan had me so interested in hearing the next "duty" and so engaged, I couldn't put it down until I had finished it.
I truly feel I learned alot from this book, and feel everyone else will as well!.

This book was a long time coming I think. :) I have always respected Dan Gheesling. One of the MANY, reason's, is because from the start, I have always known he has the heart and voice to motivate and inspire others to be the best they can be. For as long as I have followed him, (5 years), He has motivated me everyday to be the best me I can be and reach for more. This book only continued to prove to me, that Dan Gheesling is an intelligent, thoughtful person, with so very much to contribute, and give to others.
I would suggest this book to everyone!.

This is one of the best self help books I have ever read. Granted, I don't read a lot, but this was right up there with Chael Sonnen's The Voice of Reason: A VIP Pass To Enlightenment. You will learn six important duties to become a better leader and more influential person. What surprised me the most about these duties is that they are all very doable with some effort. None of the duties are outrageous, but they are eye opening and overlooked. Along with the six duties, you will find out how Dan was the most successful Big Brother player of all time (Hint: they go hand in hand). Clean Your Own Mirror was essentially made for the people who could not attend one of his college presentations on leadership. Dan's definition of a leader is much different from the traditional sense of the word. He emphasizes building better relationships with your followers and his duties will guide you to doing this. Great book and great advice, you will definitely have some aha moments.

If you think this is just another self help book you are "dead ass wring". Once again Dan has written a book that feels like it's specifically for me. His style is so powerful you feel like he's talking directly to you throughout the book. His no nonsense approach makes you realize anything is possible when you worry more about yourself and less about what others think.

The pop culture references were awesome and made the book more relatable than those that use more clinical jargon.

I'm going to recommend this book to my boss and coworkers! Great job again Dan!

I absolutely love this book. After having read it, I definitely feel as if I have the goods to become a more effective leader, and since this is coming from Dan Gheesling, I have definitely learned from the best. It take a tremendous amount of skill to win Big Brother, and to come back and finish as a runner up.

I felt that Dan was very personable and knowledgeable in this book, and I definitely felt as if he was in front of me giving me the advice in person. Since I have read this, I have definitely been more inspired, more productive and more aware of myself and how I function (and this has definitely given me a boost of confidence). I also glad that Dan allows the readers to contact him as well, if we have any other questions, and I know that some more will come up along the road.

I do plan on doing a reread of this book, and taking notes. Now that I have the information, I know where to start on becoming a more influential leader and person. Thanks Dan!

I've always been a fan of Dan Gheesling's books. After reading this book, I can say Dan did it again! This was the best book I have ever read-the best thing about it, is you can use the tips and techniques in your everyday life! This is one of those books you can't stop reading, because your curious of what's to come! I've been using the techniques from CYOM in my life, and already noticed a difference. It's a must read for anyone who's a fan of Dan, likes to read, or wants to be a leader!

This book is very much directed to the reader. That fact alone is what makes a great self help book and makes this book great. I appreciated that the book wasn't simply a book of questions or a book of answers, it was all that and more. What it was is straight forward and an easily followed well laid out path. You could take this book and apply that path regardless of the application someone needed it for in their life. As I was reading the book I realized that everything I read could help me in so many aspects of life It didn't box you in.

I applaud the fact that Dan managed to capture the art of giving advice that you'll want to apply without demanding you do it in only the way he wants it applied to your life as if we were all made of cookie cutters. The book also felt as if the questions posed throughout the book were not rhetorical unanswerable questions. These questions were more tasks that I wanted to take on and think on before I moved on to the next chapter and yet I couldn't wait to read the next chapter.

The only Con I find in the book are the sheer amount of pop cultural references. It made me feel as if the book would become dated. I also worry that if I share the book with my teenage niece that to many of the references will go over her head. The author is a good enough writer that he could have made the book one that didn't rely so strongly on the referrals.

That said I would highly recommend this book regardless of the application you want to use it towards. It's written in such a way I left it believing I could make the changes and would get a benefit from what it had to offer. This is not a book that will drift out of my mind and it's lessons forgotten. This is a book that I believe will stick with me and change my life for the positive

I pre-ordered this book and haven't regretted it for one second. I'm grateful I bought it and pleased to have it in my library.
