4.0 out of 5 stars This shaver is so good, I can use it blindfolded!

I was hesitant about buying a personal razor because I had heard the horror stories about shavers of the past (can anyone say Epilady?) but I was tired of regular razors so was really ready to give this new style a try. (Regular razors either couldn't get close enough due to a safety blade, or they nicked me even when I was being careful.) Of course, it was a little hard to fork over the money for this, as to me, it was just another shaver.

I could not have been more wrong.

This shaver set is awesome. The Cleancut shaver works wonderfully, gives a great (smooth) result, and there is NO chance of getting cut or nicked. The *only* reason I give it four stars (I really would like to give it 4.5) is because:

A) While the Cleancut T-Handle Trimmer works okay for what it's for (to trim the hair short enough for the shaver), it doesn't work great--in the more private areas, I was concerned I might get nicked (although, to be honest, I didn't).

B) I would like just a bit larger shaving area on the Cleancut shaver. At just a hair over an inch wide (maybe 1-1/8") it took quite a bit of time to cover all the necessary areas. While the size is surely designed for nooks and crannies, I still think a little larger surface area would have worked just as well and also cut down on the shaving time.

That said, this product is well worth the money, and I highly recommend it to anyone. It's great being able to get such a close shave without messy shave creams, gels, or lotions...or painful waxing.

4.0 out of 5 stars A pretty good pair!, November 8, 2006

Hahaha, sorry for the length of my very first Amazon review. I'm sure I'll become faster and more efficient as I go.

I've had the Cleancut/Femini combo for a couple months now except I have the Shavey Femini trimmer that isn't the t-bar. I find it great for managing angles, shapes, and tight spaces (I've heard the t-bar's motor is a little stronger if you prefer that). When I got it, I applied some baby powder and in several minutes, the trimmer got the hair down to a good stubble, then shaped things a nice and neatly. Coarse hair wasn't a problem for the little teeth and I didn't get nicked, even while getting the pesky hair on the..um... "inner areas". I'd still say be careful around those parts though.

The Cleancut fit along my curves nicely thanks to its smaller size and finishing the job was easy. To cut closer, you should run opposite the directional growth and pull the skin taught as you go. It isn't as close as a razor but I don't get any itchiness or rashes and FAR less ingrowns which are usually a big problem for me otherwise. I consider that a more than fair trade-off. Just make sure you're clean, dry, and powdered for the best results and substantially lessened chance of a possible bite or irritation...which you should probably do with most dry shavers anyway. I've tested it on a small area without dry lubricant and it CAN cause irritation so be sure to always use something. Baby powder is cheap and there are different kinds from talc to cornstarch based; regular, to scented, to medicated...and did I mention it's cheap?! Can't go wrong at a couple bucks for a big bottle of it. :P

On another note, it's true the battery makes up for most of the unit's weight. But that doesn't change the fact that it cuts through my coarse stubble with no problem or lag in spinning. It isn't loud but it does make an audible high humming noise. The noise wasn't enough to bother me and I consider myself pretty uptight about those things. You can use them on your facial hair too if wet shaving gives you ingrowns and you hate waxing...just uh, wash or wipe off the foil if you use it on your privates first, lol. Sometimes I even use it under my arms.

Like most advertised things, it's not as miraculous and amazing as ads claim but you should already know not to ride entirely on them. That being said, I was not disappointed with it and I hope someday they make a wet/dry version so I don't have to worry about getting it wet. I've used it regularly since I got it and there are NO razors down there anymore!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, February 10, 2006
This review is from: Model ES412 Cleancut Personal Shaver AND a Cleancut Model PS335 Cleancut T Handle Trimmer Combo (Health and Beauty)
Seiko is a big name in Japan, a manufacturer of fine microelectronics. Among the many products they offer are the the Femini Timmer and Cleancut Shaver. The Femini is battery operated, and is designed to fit comfortably in the hand. The shaving head itself is well designed, and has never given me even the smallest of cuts. The small size of the head makes it ideal for trimming eyebrows and the bikini area, and even allows for detailed trimming, for when you want to get creative in your trimming.

The Cleancut Shaver is the Lexus of shavers. When you first pick up the Cleancut, you know this is a serious shaver. It is heavy compared to low-cost shavers, and that is because it has a quality motor. The shaver fits nicely in your hand, and when you turn it on it has a nice hum, without the buzzing rattle that you get from cheap shavers. It gives a nice smooth shave, and does not bite or pinch even the softest of skin. It is powered by a C battery, which is easy to replace.

Use the Femini and Cleancut for removal of unwanted hair, whether in the underarm or along the bikini line, or for more creative trimming. These are high-quality products that you will love and will give you excellent service.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect pair for private parts, May 3, 2008

Tired of lathering up in the shower, and praying you don't nick something "important" with the safety razor? Even the best of the many blade razors, named after whatever goddess, aren't close to this pair. Trust me. I've waxed, shaved, AND lasered, at various times. The femini T-handle trimmer takes your hair down to a low stubble. Quick and easy. The Cleancut does the rest. All DRY! No foam of soap or shaving lotion. No irritation. Just a gentle dust of powder for a lubricant under the head of the shaver.

Worried that you can't SEE there, so how could you shave there safely? It's not a problem. If you can feel where the hairs are, you can do this. And you can hear when the shavers are cutting. Not scary or loud, but a light bzz when the blades are at work. The head of the Cleancut is small, but remember, it's made for a place with nooks and crannies. How much larger should it be? You're not mowing the lawn, after all. It does GREAT in those hard to reach places. And no blades come near your skin. You will, as the instructions say, have to use the femini shaver to bring the hair to stubble height before the Cleancut will do its thing. A little practice is all you need. After the first complete use, you will be able to use the Cleancut every couple of days, just to maintain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never hurts your "special area!", September 2, 2006
This review is from: Model ES412 Cleancut Personal Shaver AND a Cleancut Model PS335 Cleancut T Handle Trimmer Combo (Health and Beauty)
I have owned one of these for three years. I have to say that the Cleancut shaver is the best shaver I have ever used period. It takes a little longer than shaving but it is completely worth the time and effort! You can say goodbye to razor bumps and razor burn. Make sure, however, that you order a replacement blade set for it when you buy it so you don't have to wait between "shaves" after you've worn the blades out. COMPLETELY WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY.

The Femini trimmer rocks! I've never used a trimmer that was so fast and did such a great job all without tearing up my skin! I can use this trimmer on the most sensitive parts and it never pinches or cuts me. I love it!

The Cleancut is very good too. Again, I LOVE that it never pinches or cuts me. Other razors, regular and electric, leave me a mess. The cleancut can work in the most sensitive places without any problems. I only gave it a 4 because it was giving me bumps in the beginning. I think I just needed to train my hair to grow in the right direction. Now it keeps everything clean and smooth. I use Bikini Zone after each shave and the bumps are greatly improved.

I recommend this combo, I haven't found anything better!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good but get spare blades, August 31, 2007
This review is from: Model ES412 Cleancut Personal Shaver AND a Cleancut Model PS335 Cleancut T Handle Trimmer Combo (Health and Beauty)
As indicated on the package, booklet and some of the reviews, it takes time to get a hang of it, but once you do (use it 2/3 times) you can't live without it. hence: Get some spare blades before you realize you have to order them, and wait.... You might get disappointed at first but that's just because you lack practice. Go for both, they complement eachother.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finishes the job that other electric razors can't!, December 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Model ES412 Cleancut Personal Shaver AND a Cleancut Model PS335 Cleancut T Handle Trimmer Combo (Health and Beauty)
The electric razor I had been using for years finally died on me. I did my research, and the Cleancut seemed to be the most recommended 'personal' shaver around.

To be honest, this thing will not shave like a regular electric razor. It won't do much of anything to actual hair. What it will do, however, is what every other electric razor can't - it will get rid of that sandpaper stubble. Yes, it will absolutely destroy those annoying scratchy little hairs that seem to come back every morning. And the little bits that always seem to be left behind? Gone.

I wouldn't call this an electric shaver at all. I would call it a handy dandy stubble eraser. It takes about 2-3 minutes to re-finish a shaved, er, 'personal area' if you do it every day or two. It's a nice and smooth shape too, with very fine mesh, which means there is no chance of catching sensitive bits.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the T-shaped trimmer that comes with it is a piece of junk, and with the way the Cleancut shaver works you're going to need that personal trimmer every now and then if the hair grows beyond stubble length. I would buy the Cleancut shaver itself rather than this bargain pack, and buy a quality trimmer to go with it.

Junky trimmer aside, the Cleancut shaver is pretty fantastic. I never thought I could get such a smooth shave with an electric, and I don't have to worry about razor burn or other blade-on-skin side effects. If you're someone who likes to keep it smooth 24/7, definitely invest in the Cleancut. It's more than worth it.

**Update 25/01/11:
The T-shaped trimmer officially died last night, meaning it lasted less than 2 months even though it was only used once or twice a week. I'd like to reiterate my suggestion of not buying this combo pack. The little silver guy is still going strong though, and is by far the best I've ever used. =)

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Option I've Found Yet, February 9, 2010

Having spent years looking for a good way to deal with that personal trimming, I finally found the best option for me.

I was worried when I bought it that it would just be a waste of money - like everything else I've ever tried. And the cost was a little prohibitive...but I decided to go for it. And I've been extremely pleased with that decision.

I have very sensitive skin, which eliminates most options for me, from waxing, to shaving with a regular razor (always gave me razor burn - no matter what).

This set together is perfect. Use the Personal Trimmer to get everything down to manageable lengths for the Personal Shaver.

I admit I was worried about getting pinched or nicked with the trimmer, and was a little leary in the more sensitive areas at first, but after many uses, I've never had a problem - no nicks, no pain. Just efficient trimming.

The Personal Shaver takes some time to use, but it's well worth it. For the smooth, soft feeling, it's perfect. I used baby powder or talc with it to help with the sliding over the skin, which seemed to help immensely. It did require many passes to get everything, but once I was done, it's just routine maintence every day or every other day.

I love this set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Especially loved the PS335 Trimmer, but a warning on ES412, June 17, 2009

This review is from: Model ES412 Cleancut Personal Shaver AND a Cleancut Model PS335 Cleancut T Handle Trimmer Combo (Health and Beauty)
Wow. There are some things that traditional razors can NOT do, and this PS335 (White color) shaver wins. Why? It gets into all the small nooks and crannies on my body, without me having to worry about nicks or cuts. THAT is a miracle. Thank God for this thing. I have pretty sensitive skin, too. Of course, I still take care to go over gently, holding skin taut, and shaving against the grain. I was very, very impressed. You can control how short you want your trimmed hair to be, simply by the amount of pressure you apply to the skin (but not holding in one position too long).

IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!! The round stainless steel silver-colored one (ES412) is based on a great concept, but there is a HUGE design flaw. The rotating twist steel dome part (with small holes) actually can COME OFF while the electric razor is on, EXPOSING the rotating razors and potentially harming and cutting you. There should be a huge WARNING on this, or you should at least check to make sure it's firmly twisted on before EACH USE. THIS TOP TWISTS ON AND OFF THE BLADES SO YOU CAN CLEAN IT. However, in the MIDDLE of shaving ("on" mode), it twisted off and FELL OFF, exposing the ELECTRIC ROTATING RAZORS which could have easily cut me! Ever since then, I stopped using the steel (silver colored) one and just use the white one.

The PS335 (white one) by itself does the job well. It took me a good 45 minutes or so to get a completely good shave around my bikini area, but it's well worth it. Maybe with more experience, the time will become shorter. I've tried before with razors, and was shaving in fear the whole time, in the shower, for more than an hour or so. Also, I love how I can use this PS335 on dry skin rather than wet. It's more effective this way. It's recommended on dry skin, anyway. Make sure to read the directions carefully, especially on how to clean the shaver.
