I cannot begin to describe how cool bands like this never get recognized until they break up, and this is no exception. GREAT album!

5.0 out of 5 stars It sounds like it should., December 23, 2002
This review is from: Cleanse (Audio CD)
What I mean by that title is that Burn is a hardcore band fronted by Chaka Malik (formerly of Orange 9mm) and it sounds exactly like that description. Burn are a band from New York that got together in the early 90's but disbanded after Chaka joined O9mm. Since O9mm broke up, Burn got back together last fall, and then (surprise) broke up again. Despite the obvious problems the band had, this still stands as an excellent EP. Chaka's vocals are a little more abrasive than his former work (he actually sounds genuinely angry). The whole CD is great, all six tracks are loud, heavy, fast and relatively short. The drum playing by Alan Cage dominates this CD, and is complimented nicely by bassist Manuel Carrero (formerly of Glassjaw). If I had to pick a favorite track, it would be "Disgraces." If you were a fan of old Orange 9mm, listening to this CD might be a shock to you. The music on here reminds me a lot of Amen, with different (and better) vocals. If I had to pick a favorite track, it would be "Disgraces." If you like Glassjaw, Amen, or Will Haven, you should check this CD out.

This was a great album with a much more smoother sound then the first cd yet still hard. Track 1 and 3 are my personal favorites but the whole cd is good. I would highly recommend this cd to any hard core fans
