The description shown here is a bit confusing, in that it says "with added nutrients". This product is 100% psyllium husk and I am unaware of anything additional being in it. If you take another psyllium product, you might like to read the label and see if it contains silica (sand) in it - and if so, is that what you want to be taking?!

I was advised many years ago to take psyllium indefinitely, and my original favorite was Fiberall. I haven't seen that in stores in years. I like the unflavored form of psyllium, as I am interested in the active ingredient and don't want to pay for flavor for something where deliciousness is irrelevant. I took store brands for about 15 years with no problem, but then one day my upper abdomen swelled out of the clothing I was wearing over a two-hour period. I went to a doctor that said there was nothing wrong with this. No, I won't be returning to that doctor. Since bloating and gas are possible (and usually temporary) side effects from psyllium, I quit taking my store brand psyllium so as not to exacerbate whatever my problem is. This did not work, because it is essential for me to use something for normal digestion.

I tried Citrucel for a couple of weeks, and found it not only ineffective, but it is strange stuff, in that if you add water to it after you've initially mixed it in a glass, it bubbles like soapy water. That is expensive stuff, so I contacted the company, Glaxo Smith Kline, and they refused to give me a refund. I don't recommend Citrucel, and this is the only company I've ever encountered that does not stand behind its product.

In desperation, I bought Original Colon Cleanse, and expect that this is what I will be using from now on. It tastes wholesome and natural and doesn't contain sand or anything else that is unnecessary or undesirable. It is effective and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to use a psyllium product.
