It will not dry your hands like other hand sanitizers, and has a great scent.

I like both scents, but the orange is my favorite.

Our family has used all types of hand sanitizers and cleansers all with ingredients ranging from triclosan to alcohol. Previous products dried out our skin to the point of itching and sometimes bleeding and the strong alcohol scent gets old quickly. Our daughter has an autoimmune disease and blood disorder (severe aplastic anemia) that requires she be as near to germ free as possible at all times. Cleanwell products were developed by a husband and wife team who's son also has an autoimmune disease. Check out their website [...] for a complete bio and list of products. We have only tried the Spearmint/Lime scent and although we love the scent which is much more spearmint than lime, others do not like the fragrance. It reminds me of mint toothpaste which I don't mind and there are other scents to choose from - it just smells natural and fresh, not chemical-like. This product kills more types of germs than any other sanitizer and cleanser out there. It's more expensive for a reason, but peace of mind to us is priceless. We keep the larger bottle in our cars and the smaller ones in our purse, backpack, etc. We also use the foaming cleanser in the kitchen and bathrooms - particularly handy after handling raw meats and eggs as it kills e-coli and salmonella and a little bit of product goes a long way. Buy it, try it, you won't regret it.

I purchased a Spearmint Lime Clean Well hand sanitizer at my local Bath and Body Works recently in an attempt to go green.

After smelling the other scents available, and honestly not finding any of them to immediately grab my attention, I settled for the Spearmint Lime.

I've had the product for about 6 weeks now and it has grown on me. I'm starting to truly like the scent! It's quite pleasant and refreshing, plus your hands feel soft after use. The scent does linger for quite some time so if you're sensitive to smells, this probably isn't for you. It is, however, much better than the alcohol scent of most other hand sanitizers.

Being alcohol free, I also feel very comfortable using it on my 20 month old daughter while we're out and about.

I love that it's a spray instead of a blob of watery gel - so much easier to apply (especially to my daughter's hands!).

The spray bottle is a great size, fits into my purse, diaper pod, or even a pocket if necessary. Too bad it doesn't have a neat attachment to hook on to strollers like Purell has.

Bottom line: It's great, but honestly the scents available just aren't very pleasing! The combinations of scents are weird. I recommend finding them in a store near you so you can smell them first. I'm curious if I would find the other scents growing on me as this one has. It's still not a favorite, but it's alright.

There is simply nothing on the market that I know of that can compete with this hand sanitizer. It is 100% natural, environmentally conscious and best of all, alcohol free. It will not dry your hands like other hand sanitizers, and has a great scent.

This product is great for quick clean-ups. However, if you're counting on this hand sanitizer to protect you, don't. "The manufacturers of Staphaseptic, Safe4Hours, Dr. Tichenor's and CleanWell products had suggested that various gels, protectants and what-not could protect against infection with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The FDA takes issue with that." (source: [...] The FDA made the company remove a claim that the hand sanitizer is "Proven to kill 99.99% of germs" ... FDA's letter:"However, we are not aware of sufficient evidence that shows CleanWell All-Natural Hand Sanitizer is generally recognized as safe and effective for the uses noted above. In particular, we are not aware of evidence that this product is safe and effective in preventing individuals from becoming infected by E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, MRSA, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus aureus."[...]

ALSO SEE: "Thyme oil vs. alcohol hand sanitizer: which is better?" [...] This is more proof that "Alcohol hand sanitizers are even effective against the non-enveloped viruses, so unlike thyme oil, alcohol will kill the virus that causes the common cold. In addition, alcohol sanitizers have been tested on human skin, so we know they work in real life, not just the lab."

I'm all for 'all natural' products, shop at what we all know as whole paycheck, eat organic, etc etc. So I was really happy when I discovered this all natural thyme-oil based sanitizer especially as I was pregnant. But I recently did a web search for thyme oil vs alcohol hand sanitizer (you can do the same) and discovered that : 1) there is relatively little study done on safety of thyme oil (and now with the FDA coming out on needing to review antiseptic hand washers with triclosan this is sort of scary) and 2) alcohol based hand sanitizers are actually better because thyme oil kills viruses by breaking certain barriers of the virus but not all viruses, like the common cold or polio virus, have barriers..and alcohol does kill the common cold and those other non-barrier viruses, 3) alcohol is just as natural and 4) if you do a web search on thyme oil, you will discover a lot of warnings about using thyme oil while pregnant and breastfeeding...and of course a lot of people are looking for 'safer' products to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding and may use this, like I did, without knowing that it should not be used at those times. I am giving them one star because I feel Cleanwell should label their sanitizing products with a warning label about use during pregnancy and breastfeeding and I also think they should publish some scientific studies about safety on their website. I have learned my lesson here - not everything 'all natural' is safe. I mean, some of the most dangerous poisons in the world are 'all natural' like botulism and arsenic.

On the plus side, this does not dry out your hands like alcohol does and this is probably a good alternative for those who cannot use alcohol based products. But, what I would recommend most is just washing your hands with regular soap and water! Simple and the best!
