1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage and drivel
Another "light and fluffy" self-help book with absolutely no basis in current scientific research. Full of talk-show mentality and social worker folk-lore. Save your money and go see "Patch Adams" - at least you'll get popcorn and a few kernels of truth.

I can't say enough about this book. I have read a lot of self-help books in search of an answer to my problems. Most self-help books tell you how you should be, whereas Ms. Finney's book tells you how to get yourself there with the Inner Exploration Process. She explains in very understandable language that our past experiences in childhood completely govern our lives as adults. And until we go back and face those experiences, we will never be at peace or be able to move forward with our lives without continuous self-defeating behavior. It truly is the ultimate self help book. All your questions about why you are the way you are and what to do about it will be answered in this book. Everyone in America should read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Vehicle for the Personal Journey, November 30, 1999

This review is from: Clear Your Past, Change Your Future: Change Your Future (Paperback)
What I like most about this book is two-fold: the material comes from the author's personal experience and work and can serve as a guide and help for my or any willing reader's personal work and experience. There are many exercises for helping one get in touch with memories and feelings - both of which we've all been taught to stuff if we want to fit in. And I'm not personally talking memories of violent abuse, but memories of learning concepts from our parents/society which violated our personal integrity - even as children. The author provides plenty of information, well-documented, for personal exploration. And then if the reader chooses to work with these exericises, my experience is that the results in one's personal life become the real documentationa and validation of the techniques presented.I recommend this book to anyone wishing for ways and means of really living up to the old admonition of "know thyself."

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book is Excellent!, November 8, 1999

I have read Clear Your Past and find it extremely helpful in finding solutions to problems stemming from childhood. Lynne Finney, the author, outlines an impressive variety of techniques developed by well-known research institutions. As a a result, the reader can personally select from scores of methods, or try each in turn. The book is so terrific that I find myself re-reading it to discover new nuggets of information that I can apply to my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clear Your Past, Change Your Future, November 24, 1999

This review is from: Clear Your Past, Change Your Future: Change Your Future (Paperback)
I like this book! It made sense to me and I sent it to my sister. I read it because it is written in simple language, not psychobabble, and the techniques are easy to use. It's based on the latest research at Harvard Medical School and other universities, has an extensive bibliography and is recommended by authors Gerald Jampolsky, M.D., Larry Dossey, M.D., and Joan Borysenko, Ph.D. Finney is realistic; she says there's no "quick fix." But with some effort, the techniques really work. I highly recommend this book.
