Along his own path of invention, Pat Wilsons compositions are most notably influenced by the music of the Italian Renaissance, Baroque, Celtic and folk styles. He has written and performed many piano, instrumental ensemble, choral and progressive rock compositions that have been well received by many audiences throughout the Midwest. Much of his earlier work was composed for the nylon string guitar, but he later switched over to the piano, which he has found more conducive to composing counter point and harmonies for various vocal and instrumental works.
Wilsons interests in both classical and modern philosophy, and poets such as Rumi, Rilke and Bly have had much effect on his music as well as his writings. Investigative thought, married with music, are at the heart of his approach, and guide him in the composition of what many have likened to instrumental poems.
Wilsons music might best be described as melodic, reflective and sincere.
In the 1990s Pat Wilson relocated to northern Michigan ("by the water and amongst the trees") where he continues his work in musical composition, writing, drawing and poetry. -lms
