Clear glass percolator top, fits Farberware, etc.

I previously purchased the Farberware "Yosemite" stove top percolator from Amazon. One of the percolator's reviewers mentioned purchasing this glass top because the plastic one that came with the percolator eventually wore loose due to screwing it back on and off (probably for washing underneath the plastic ring that the top fits onto). So, I purchased this item. I know, the shipping costs exceed the price of the item since at this writing, it has to be purchased from a third party seller on Amazon. However, it turned out to be well worth it for the following reasons:

l. The glass top fits flush with the metal lid of the percolator and is secured firmly underneath the lid with a metal ring that has a drain hole. Accordingly, you do not have to continually remove the top when washing the percolator. This eliminated having to take off the original plastic top and and its ring to clean underneath (which was a pain because this required several tries to catch the screw of the plastic top correctly).

2. The glass top has a concave groove around its circumference which enables one to easily remove the percolator lid. In essence, it doubles as a handle for the percolator's lid. The original plastic top was no more than a nub that often required you to remove the percolator lid by prying it off around its edges with your nails.

3. Lastly, for the fashion conscious, it does make the percolator look better. A touch of class never hurts anything. The original top and its plastic ring made it look cheap.

Hope this helps my fellow Amazon purchasers to decide whether or not to buy this top.

I bought a stainless steel stove top percolator that had a plastic top that was impossible to keep on tight. I replaced it with one of these glass tops and the problem was solved.

DO NOT purchase this item (as I did) for a Presto electric coffee percolator. It DOES NOT FIT. As it is inexpensive, it is not worth the postage to return it for a credit. Amazon advertized this item with electric coffee percolators with the caveat -- it fits MOST machines.

It does the job, but at $8 (with shipping) it is far too expensive. Worse, the glass is too thin to hold up to normal wear and tear. Mine broke off in my hand after only a few months. The old ones were made of such thick glass they were virtually unbreakable--they eroded away like a piece of geology but didn't break.

However, I really like my Farberware Yosemite pot and its chintzy plastic dome was no longer serviceable. So, I ordered 3 of these tops (a lifetime supply, I thought) along with something else from the same merchant to cut per-unit shipping costs. The first of these shattered in mid-perk the first time I used it! Maybe the remaining two will last longer. (Or, maybe I'll die young.)

The directions say, "DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN" Apparently, "tight enough to stay on" is too much. If they put a penny's worth more glass in these things, they'd be fine.

This is a nice glass percolator top. It fits the Farberware percolator. I purchased this in case the plastic top broke on the Farberware percolator. I installed it (very,very easy) and it makes the percolator look more expensive. I would purchase this item again.

They don't make things like they used to. New percolators come with junk for glass tops. You have to keep replacements around. This one will work. But you might as well buy a couple, because surely you'll need to replace the replacement. My mother has my Grandmother and Great Grandmothers percolators. The tops on those are old and you could tell its of great quality. No room for pride and quality in todays industry. Quick,cheep, and easy. Thats the way of the present and future.

When I bought my faberware perculator this top was recommended to go on the top of the perculator. It does not fit and is not for this perculator. I did not send it back because it costs more to send it back then to keep it. Someone might want to make sure when something is recommended to go with an item that it fits that item.

Pleased with this glass percolator top; much better than the small, plastic one that came with the percolator.

I was so happy to finally be able to find a top to fit my percolator. Although a little larger than the top that broke, the fitting that came with the top was adjustable and I was ale to fit it on my pot.

Seller said his glass percolator tops fit all Farberware percolators. This is not true. I have 2 and they don't fit either one of my lids.
