ClearOne CHAT 50 USB Plus IP Phone

The Chat 50 by Clear One, connects via USB port, has EXCELLENT noise and feedback canceling ability. I have used for 6 months as THE speaker for all my business PC sound applications, including HD Video-Conferencing, IP phone calls, and all voice and sound playback from my Notebook. In voice and video calls with three to four others, using head sets, the Chat 50 beats most and is equal to all we have head sets we have tested. We have used them with small groups of 2-3 people with no problems either. Even with 2 or 3 Chat 50's being used by all at the same time, we still have had no feedback issues. Use with one on calls connected to Europe and Africa, we have had no issues from the Chat 50's. We are preparing to use them in multi locations test on calls with units in mutliple countries on same call, and expect no issues. For under $150 US, this is an amazing product. I have purchased 3 times, for a total of 8 so far; and now provide to my customers who do not have good equipment to enhance or Video and telephone conference calls. Headphones are in donation box, and earbuds only travel as backup. Best money spent on communication equipment yet. (OK for Movies and music, you may want to use you powered external speakers, but for business, this is the real deal.)

From a usability standpoint this thing couldn't have been easier to use. With both Windows XP and Windows 7 it was plug and immediately play.

If you buy this make sure you get the PLUS. If not, everything is totally à la cart. You get a wire to connect to the USB on your computer, but if you want to plug the damn thing into the wall you need to buy an AC adapter. Once you get that you will notice with horror that it won't plug into your wall you then have to buy something that connects the adapter to a regular US AC outlet. Very frustrating! I spent so damn much and had so little to show for it.

That said, the sound is OK....not worth as much as it costs

The device seems simple enough to use and very convenient for people on the move but I wasn't crazy about the sound quality. It could have just been my computer...

I got this product specifically because it was advertised to work well with a Mac. NOT! First of all, the standard manual does not even include the word Mac. You have to use the advanced manual which can only be downloaded from on-line Next problem is that the CD does not contain the Mac drivers. Oops. Have to get them from customer support.

And then? Doesn't work. Apparently the software drivers do not work on the latest Mac OS. The one that has been shipping for the past year. This company does not deserve anyone's business.
