Important Information

Safety Warning
Store at 36 - 86F (2-30C). Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use if the foil wrapper containing the test stick is damaged. Do not use a test stick that has passed its expiration date. Do not reuse the test sticks. Not for contraceptive use. Always read the manufacturers instructions for any medication that you are taking before doing a test. Certain medical conditions and medications can give misleading results, for example: you are pregnant; you have recently been pregnant; you are breast feeding; you have reached menopause; you have impaired liver or kidney function; you have polycystic ovarian syndrome; you are taking fertility drugs containing luteinizing hormone or human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (such as Pregnyl and Profasi)*; you are taking antibiotics containing tetracyclines; Some fertility treatments such as Clomid** may give misleading High Fertility results. Peak Fertility results should be unaffected.

Indications
Home ovulation test. For in vitro diagnostic use only. Limits of the test. Certain medical conditions may or may not affect the reliability of this test in predicting ovulation. These can include pregnancy, post-partum, menopause symptoms, breast feeding, birth control pills, some fertility medications and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Women with medically diagnosed fertility problems should ask their health care professional if the product is suitable for them.

Directions
These are abbreviated instructions. Do not carry out a test without reading the full in-pack leaflet. Take a test stick out of its foil pouch and take the cap off. Insert the test stick in the holder - lining up the purple arrows until it clicks into place. When you use the test for the first time in a cycle the new cycle symbol will flash. Look for the test ready symbol. Either put the absorbent sampler pointing downwards into your urine stream for 3 seconds or you can collect a sample of your urine in a clean, dry container and put the absorbent sampler into your collected urine sample for 15 seconds. Replace the cap and make sure you lay the test flat or keep the absorbent sampler pointing downwards. Never hold the test with the absorbent sampler pointing upwards. Within 1 minute the test ready symbol will start to flash to show the test is working. After 5 minutes read the unmistakably clear digital result. If the test displays Low Fertility, you are unlikely to fall pregnant if you have sex today, so its just for fun and you should test again tomorrow. If the test displays High Fertility, you will increase your chance of conceiving by having sex today but you should test again tomorrow. If the test displays Peak Fertility, you are at your most fertile time. Peak Fertility is displayed for 2 days, but you can stop testing after you see the first one. Ovulation should occur within the next 24-36 hours.

I had the flashing smiley face for 3 days.

You have to wait for your next cycle before you can start using them but when you are trying to get pregnant, waiting another cycle is the last thing you want to do.

I found them to be very easy to use and the results are easy to read.

I read many of these reviews before I bought the product last month, and was interested to see how this product worked for me. It is very important to read ALL of the directions and use the kit as instructed, and if you do, then it will work well for you, whether you have regular or irregular cycles. I started using it on the 8th day of my cycle and received a few days of "low" fertility, 11 days of "high" fertility, and then received the "peak" fertility reading on day 22. The instructions indicate that, on average, women will receive 2 days of "high" readings before they receive a peak reading, but don't let that lead you to believe that it's not working if you receive more than 2 days of "high" fertility. It just means that your estrogen is increasing many days in advance of your LH surge, and that is okay. In fact, it is for this reason that I think the Advanced Digital kit is GREAT for women with irregular cycles, because it tells you when to be prepared for your LH surge, even if that takes 11 days like it did for me. I found it very helpful, because I wouldn't have known that I ovulate three weeks into my cycle (compared to the average of 2 weeks) if I hadn't used this kit. So if you are receiving many high fertility readings, keep testing! I used a store-brand set of OPK strips my first month trying to conceive, and let me tell you, this product is infinitely better and well worth the cost.

The first month I used this product I had a positive pregnancy test 12 days after my peak fertility reading, so it clearly accurately predicted my LH surge/ovulation.

I use this next to tracking my body temperature. While I had difficulties interpreting cheaper ovulation test sticks, this one does the trick wonderfully. Make sure to carefully read instructions, though. Also, note that it is possible that more than two days of high fertility (i.e. high estrogen = blinking smiley) are possible.

I gave this five stars because it worked perfectly for me. Although, I can also understand why it wouldn't work well for others.

This cycle, I used four total test sticks. I had one day of low, two days of high and two days of peak. The second peak day is automatic after the first peak day. There is no reason to test after receiving the first peak reading. Since this was the first cycle using this product, I tested throughout the day using the Wondfo Ovulation Predictor Strips. I received my first positive on the Wondfo strips at 9:00 pm. The next morning, I used the Clearblue Advanced Digital with first morning urine and received my first peak day. This same urine sample produced a negative result on the Wondfo strip. The CB Advanced Digital still had enough information to provide the peak reading when the traditional ovulation predictor did not.

This product did exactly what it said it would do. It gave me approximately two more days of fertile readings than an ovulation predictor kit alone. I have charted my cycles for eight years. All of my other fertility signs line up with the readings it provided.

I really like that this is very similar to the Clearblue Fertility Monitor (it works the same way, but doesn't "learn" a woman's cycle), but it's substantially less expensive. Given that the cost on these is relatively low in comparison to the CBFM (though high compared to internet cheapies), it's worth a shot for one cycle.

Having said all of the above, as previous reviewers have mentioned, it won't work for some women. Based on my knowledge, the reasons could include the following -

1. A short lutenizing hormone surge
2. A fast metabolism
3. PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome (will sometimes cause a lot of positive ovulation predictor kits)

I'm sure there are a myriad of other reasons they might not work for some (or even work every cycle for the same person).

I am in the process of using this kit now. I have reached what appears to be "peak fertility". However the instructions on how to differentiate "high fertility" and "peak fertility" were not clear enough, in my opinion. The instructions made more sense AFTER I tested for 10 days and became familiar with the test. Basically I would see a symbol and say "Oh so that's what the instructions meant". Not ideal! When I first began the test, on day 10 of my cycle, the test displayed an EMPTY circle indicating "low fertility", which I expected. On the next day, I received a STEADY smiley face - which apparently means "peak fertility", which I was not expecting. This smiley face went away after a few moments. That made me question the validity of the test, however, I continued to test on a daily basis. Two days later I received a FLASHING smiley face, which I did not expect because NO WHERE in the description for "high fertility" did it say the words "flashing, blinking, etc". The only thing indicating flashing on the box and instructions are these little rays surrounding the smiley face which, to be honest, I thought would appear on the display screen. So today I tested and received a STEADY smiley face, which hasn't gone away, so apparently I am in "peak fertility".

If the company is reading this, it might benefit your clientele to actually use the word FLASHING when describing the symbol for high fertility rather than vague sunshine rays. The directions of a product as sensitive as this one should not be vague or confusing in any way, leaving the user guessing whether or not she is using it correctly. The directions should be clear and instill a sense of confidence/reliability in the displayed result.

Good Luck to all TTC!!!!!

We're glad you tried Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Tests and understand your concern about the instructions. We're taking steps to make sure the instructions clearly indicate that a flashing smiley indicates high fertility, and that a solid smiley indicates peak fertility. Thanks for writing a review, and we wish you the best as you TTC!
