From the Manufacturer

The Clearblue® Digital Ovulation One-Month Supply Kit, with 20 individually wrapped test sticks, takes the guesswork out of getting pregnant naturally and is most suited to women with irregular cycles. There’s no calculating when to start testing for ovulation – the One-Month Ovulation Kit tells you the exact day to begin and ensures you have plenty of test sticks so you won’t run out or miss identifying your 2 best days to conceive. Clearblue’s test is over 99% accurate and has a clear digital readout of a smiley face that makes knowing when the time is right easy – no wonder it’s the brand preferred by 9 out of 10 women.1,2

How the Digital Ovulation Test Works

The following chart outlines the phases of a woman’s menstrual cycle, showing how the two most fertile days coincide with the luteinizing hormone (LH) surge (24-36 hours before ovulation) and the release of an egg (ovulation). These are a woman’s 2 best days to conceive a baby and what the Digital Ovulation Test identifies. The One-Month Supply Kit accounts for the fact that many women’s cycles vary from month to month, making it a challenge to accurately detect the timing of peak fertility. In fact, in over 40% of women aged 18-40 years, cycle lengths vary by 7 days.3 Studies have therefore shown that performing 20 tests rather than 7 or 5 tests offers a greater chance of testing on the correct day. In fact, using 20 tests per cycle covered 99% of LH surge days in typically cycling women.4 This variability from month to month also explains why measuring Basal Body Temperature or using only an ovulation calculator, both of which predict ovulation based on past cycle information, is not the most reliable.

Luteinizing Hormone Chart

It is known that many women have low levels of LH present in their urine throughout their cycles. The Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test therefore sets a personalized threshold level for each woman, by measuring their change in LH level from their personal baseline.

Testing Directions

Because we give you 20 individually wrapped test sticks in the Digital Ovulation One-Month Supply Kit, there’s no need to calculate or guess on your own when to start testing. You can consistently begin testing on a fixed day of your cycle (see product insert).

  1. Remove the test stick from its wrapper.
  2. Insert the test stick into its holder until it clicks into place. The ready symbol should appear.
  3. Point the Absorbent Tip downward in your urine for 5-7 seconds.
  4. Keep the Absorbent Tip pointing downward or lay the test on a flat surface. After 20-40 seconds the test symbol will begin flashing to tell you that it is working. Replace the cap and wipe off any excess urine.
  5. Within 3 minutes your result will appear.

With some tests, reading the results can be difficult -as many as one in four people misread the result from a traditional ovulation line test.2 Digital results take away this potential human error and data shows that when compared to traditional line tests, the Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test is more accurately read by consumers.2

Ovulating
Not Ovulating

A smiley face means your LH surge has been detected. You can stop testing for this cycle. Having sex within the next 48 hours will maximize your chances of getting pregnant.

A blank circle means your LH surge has NOT been detected. Continue testing with a new test stick at the same time tomorrow.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT PRODUCT September 6, 2010

I have been TTCing for over a year now without success, expended time and money in IC's and never got a positive (I have long, irregular cycles after the contraceptive injection). I decided to invested in this product, the first month on CD33 and CD34 I got the smiley face, 10 days later I am pregnant with my first baby.

It definitely worth the price.

Let me start off by saying I had a tubal pregnancy (unplanned) which lead to complete removal of my right tube in July 2009. We started trying for baby November 2010. It was a little disappointing at first and then proceeded to be very frustrating as Aunt Flo kept rearing her ugly head each month (my cycles are very regular btw). I was going off of ovulation calenders, the small microscope that detects ovulation through saliva, and eventually bought cheap ovulation strips where the line has to be as dark or darker than the control line. Those are all just plain stupid and very inconsistent, IMO. I did have a hysterosalpingogram (HSP January 20th, 2012. It's a procedure where a catheter is inserted into your uterus & ballooned open. Dye is then shot into the catheter to see if the fallopian tubes (or in my case tube) have a clear path to the ovaries. Now, my doctor did said there could've been a small mucus membrane(s) that's blocking the path(s) but when dye is shot into them it can clear the path(s) for fertilization.

Anyhow, i was skeptical but purchased this anyways because a friend of mine said she knew a lady that got pregnant with in 2 months on this OPK. My smiley face came a day or two later than what I originally thought my ovulation would be (Day 18/19). I tested at the same time (about noon) the following day (Day 19) since I know ovulation only takes place for approximately 24 hours, another smiley! I wanted to make sure it wasn't a false reading so I tested again later that evening and my smiley was gone, which was a good sign! I took a pregnancy test on the 1st day of my missed period (a Tuesday), negative. I was not feeling any different & expected it to come within the next day or two. I still had not started by Saturday (St. Patty's Day) so I took another pregnancy test that morning and got my POSITIVE!!! I had my first doctor's appointment yesterday and we're due November 19th!! I am still in disbelief but super excited. I am not sure if it was my procedure that helped us or these OPK. I give credit to both actually since I was 2 days off every month & this OPK confirmed with a simple reading. I have a friend who tested too & she got her smiley face yesterday!! I will keep you all posted on her results in a few weeks...

TIPS:

- don't make these tests any harder than they are, they're simple in fact!
- insert the test strip into the reader with arrows facing each other
- wait for the blinking in the test window (blinking means it's ok to test & the strip is inserted correctly)
- i would recommend peeing in a cup then dipping (if you pee directly onto the stick, you could have too much or not enough urine for the test to read, which will result in an error message)
- do not use your 1st pee of the day to test. OPK are not like pregnancy tests. The LH surge is best detected by the 2nd or 3rd pee of the day
- make sure you have at least 2-3 hours in between times of urination so it is somewhat potent for the test
- best times to test are between 10am - 10pm

GOOD LUCK & BABY DUST TO YOU ALL!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good July 5, 2010

My husband and I just went thru our first round of IUI (finger's crossed) and was instructed by the nurse to start using the ovulation kit (of our choice) on day 10. After reading all the reviews, this seemed to be the easiest to use, and had the best feedback, so we went with these. On Day 10 - cirlce. Day 11- smiley face. We called the nurse and the next day they did an ultra-sound showing that I was in fact ready (ie. the test was accurate) and they went ahead with IUI. We're trying to stay very optimistic that one round is all we'll need (so think good thoughts) but if not, I have total confidence in using these for the following cycles.

I bought this in anticipation of needing this, as hubby and I were planning an IUI. Fortunately, we didn't need it, but I'm sure I would have liked it.

I recommend it. My wife used some times. We can see the the smile face but we didn't get pregnant. So the problem is probably with us and not the product.

4.0 out of 5 stars it works
This product works as described. It is rather expensive though, which adds up after a while if you need to use it for several months.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work for me
I used up the whole box and got no LH surge day. This box did not work for me. It might've been a fluke, but it's disappoint to waste another cycle.
