First off, it does NOT come with 2 AAA batteries, and in fact does not use AAA batteries at all; the review above is incorrect. Having said that, the laser itself seems pretty nice. The focus indeed will fan out the light to a decent angle, but you probably won't use it to light your way in the dark. And the focus needed for a point up close is different than that for a point far away.

Bottom line, though, is that this is (apart from the battery issue) just what I was looking for. You too, maybe.

This is a good product because I am a substitute teacher for kindergardeners. When I put magnetic letters on the chalk board it is easier to move them around and I can point the laser at the letter I want them to identify. It is a good combonation for a teacher.
