Book Description

Clematis for Everyone brings you over 40 years' experience of the internationally renowned clematis expert, Raymond J. Evison. Throughout the book, he brings to life the secrets and pleasures of growing clematis.

For the beginner, he takes the headache out of questions like 'where is the best position for my clematis?' and 'if, when and how should it be pruned?'

For the adventurous, he encourages using clematis as companion plants, and explores the possibilities of growing them in containers for use on the patio, or in the conservatory.

For the enthusiast, he gives detailed cultural and climatic information for over 330 of the clematis species and cultivars available today.

Helpful diagrams and colour photographs guide you throughout, and there is even a chapter addressing the growing of clematis in harsh northern climates.

Clematis for Everyone is the indispensable reference book for everyone interested in exploring this fascinating group of plants.

About the Author

Raymond Evison has been involved with the genus Clematis for nearly 40 years. During this time, he has built up a collection of over 500 species and cultivars. His nursery in Guernsey, Channel Isles is one of the largest clematis production nurseries in the world and from there he has introduced many species and cultivars to provide gardeners worldwide with an ever increasing choice of clematis. In 1984, Raymond Evison founded the International Clematis Society and in 1989 became the Society's first President. He was a member of Council of the Royal Horticultural Society from 1985 to 1996, is a Fellow of the Institute of Horticulture and was awarded the Victoria Medal of Honour by the RHS in 1995 for his outstanding service to British Horticulture. Again for his services to horticulture, Raymond received the OBE in The Queen's New Year's Honour List, January 2000.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clematis for Everyone is for Everyone, August 18, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Clematis for Everyone (Paperback)
Whether you're an expert gardener, or if you're a beginner like me, it provides great information for all levels. The book was most helpful this spring when I wanted to begin growing clematis. Mr. Evison's easy to follow writing, led me to choose Venosa Violacea, a perfect plant for my sunny container garden. Now that it has finished flowering, I can definitely say that I made the right choice in plants! His directions are concise, clear and complete, and I am looking forward to many more seasons of colour by following the advice in his book.
