This review is from: Cleo at Carnegie Hall: 10th Anniversary (Audio CD)
This is a recording of a concert given by the fantastic Cleo at Carnegie Hall. She is an incredible singer with such a range of styles and nuance.
It electrifies from the first note and mixes, blues, jazz, standards and comedy. The songs Methuselah and Turkish delight still have me laughing. The ending Hoagy Carmichael has you wanting more and more. A must-have disc and one of the best introduction to this wonderful singer who seems to be somewhat overlooked in the US.

Cleo Laine has been one of my favorite singers for almost 50 years. She has a range of 4 full octaves, and can hit High-C above C. On this CD, on the tune "Turkish Delight," she hits, and holds for 10 full seconds, E-Flat ABOVE High-C. She has one of the most amazing and beautiful voices of all time. Her late husband, Sir John Dankworth, was a brilliant composer, arranger, and musician, and plays some great solos on sax and clarinet on this disc.
