4.0 out of 5 stars Great wedges with deep grooves..., September 27, 2010

I have both a 52 and a 56 degree version of this wedge and I am thrilled with both. Obviously, spin is subjective to many factors, including ball type and quality, swing, lie, contact etc. However, when comparing this to my old wedges, I have found that the amount of spin I get is substantially more than what I was accustomed to. They have a great feel and the finish is gorgeous at address. The laser etchings on the face of the club seem to have survived countless rounds already, despite some folks experiencing the opposite. Close inspection reveals that they are still there, albeit harder to see. The traditional grooves are still there and sharp. In fact, while trying to run my finger across one to inspect their longevity, I cut my finger similar to a paper cut. A mildly painful, but ironic testament to their staying power.

The lack of a five star review is simply because of the face losing it's finish. The gunmetal grey has turned somewhat lighter on the face after countless rounds, but it has not effected performance in anyway. I find myself admiring the lighter area because it shows off my ability to make good contact on the face, and gives the club some character. YMMV.

4.0 out of 5 stars a great wedge, June 28, 2011
This review is from: Cleveland CG15 Black Pearl Wedge, Standard Bounce (Sports)
i was looking for a new lob wedge to replace one that i found in my grandfathers garage which was slowly deteriorating. i came across this wedge and put it on my birthday list. after the first swing i noticed a difference. the ball came off the face smoothly and with alot of spin. before i was only able to put a noticable amount of spin on the ball with a full swing, now i can put spin on the ball with my short shots too. the pearl finish has started to come off with only 3 rounds of golf on its record. the finnish is coming off in thin lines and it is some-what annoying. over all the wedge s really solid the wedge is worth the money and if the wearing of the finish bothers you, buy it in a different finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Wedges Ever. Help a Duffer Like Me Hit Like a Pro., December 30, 2010

What more needs to be said than the fact that the USGA/PGA is outlawing these wedges because they are so good. I am just a duffer (low-mid 90s) and these wedges let me (occassionally) hit like a pro with backspin that stops the ball even on an average hit and lets me draw it back on a good hit. I like the black color which doesn't reflect the sunlight back into my eyes which happens to me with some polished wegdes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fine by me !, September 8, 2011

I've been working on my wedge play. I use a Cleveland 58 CG15, a Callaway Forged X 60 and today I tried my new Cleveland 62 CG15 all standard bounce. The course was wet but not soft. Both Cleveland wedges hit the green and stopped fast due to spin. The Callaway played similar but noticebly less spin.

9-14-11 I couldn't get a good wedge shot all day. It's not the wedge it's the duffer !!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Wedge, July 5, 2011
This review is from: Cleveland CG15 Black Pearl Wedge, Standard Bounce (Sports)
This club is awesome. Great feel, weighting, and spin. The weighting just makes you feel like you'll never hit a bad shot. I highly recommend these Cleveland wedges and wish I would have bought them much sooner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too much spin?, June 19, 2011

I just got a set of 3 - 52, 56, 60 of the CG15 zip groove (not the tour zip) wedges and played them for the first time today. The first shot beyond 30 yards I got to try them on was from about 90 yds out in the fairway. I took a full swing with the 56, and contacted it perfectly. Felt great. Nice high shot straight at the pin. It landed about 10-15 feet past the hole, and then looked like a remote control car peeling out as it spun back past the hole and off the front of the green. It probably backed up 30 feet. The green was sloping back toward me, but only just slightly.

In short range shots (10-30 yards) from the rough, the 60 degree club was amazing. It knifed through thicker rough without grabbing or twisting. There were a couple shots that I was not expecting to be able to cleanly get out of the rough and up in the air, but I was able to do it, and pretty easily.

Overall, the clubs look, feel, and play amazingly, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't have gone with the tour zip ones so the amount of spin would've been more manageable on fuller swings. Hopefully I'll learn how to control and work with the spin.

EDIT: I just read that grooves really don't influence spin much or at all in dry/fairway conditions where there isn't much between the ball and the face of the club (water, grass, etc). Considering that, it's probably just that the laser etched faces are brand new and really grab the ball, especially on a clean contact like I had.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Club, April 12, 2011

I bought the 50, 58 and 64 degree wedges and have played them all. All are well balanced and have a great feel. These are Sniper Clubs from 125 and in. The spin they impart in the ball is great. Fire at the pin with confidence. The only draw back is the durability of the laser grooves. I keep them clean but the face has a little wear after 5 rounds. Depending on your amount of play these might be 1 or 2 season clubs. Either way, worth every penny... so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Wedge Super Price, March 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love this Lob Wedge. I have the 56 and wanted to get the same Wedge. The prior 60 degree Taylor Made Wedge I had was fine but too light and it through me off. My swing is the same with both 56 and 60 Cleveland Wedge- they truly are the wedge leaders. Great price - free shipping!
