'Cleveland Rocks!Music From The Drew Carey Show'(Rhino),

This review is from: Cleveland Rocks! Music From The Drew Carey Show (Audio CD)
I usually prefer movie soundtracks rather than TV ones, but this one is an exception.I've never been the 'biggest' fan of the Drew Carey show, but I always watched it whenever I could. Each season of the long running TV show had a different song for it's opening segment, and well it should. Some really good tunes on this disc, like The Vogues-"Five O'Clock World"(I haven't heard that song since I was ten-nice going,Rhino),the Edgar Winter Group FM staple "Free Ride",Joe Walsh-"Rocky Mountain Way",Reverend Horton Heat-"Now,Right Now"(I remember the Reverend playing this tune on tour when I saw him at a pub)and last and certainly anything but least,Iggy Pop's "Lust For Life".A fun collection of tracks to listen to on your lunch break.

This is an extraordinary TV show album that will make you dance, laugh and cheer. It has all the right ingredients to make you feel good. The song selection is excellent and included the Vogues' winter of 1965-66 classic "5:00 World," which I love and Edgar Winters' "Free Ride."
The dance moves are brilliantly choreographed and the scenes are not lacking in fun and laughter. The spoof of Rocky Horror with the dance off with Priscilla the Drag Queen had me laughing so hard I was wiping tears of laughter out of my eyes. The scene were Carey and the Business Professionals are rounded up in the police truck and brought to the precinct house is priceless! That was just TOO funny! I loved it when the men did that dance to the 1976 Edgar Winters' hit, "Free Ride." That whole episode made me laugh until it HURT! Drew Carey is a genuine talent. He can sing, dance, act and is just naturally funny. He has a good supporting cast who are masters of the fine art of comedy. There are few comedians I enjoy to the extent I enjoy Drew Carey. The Christmas parodies had me doubled over with laughter as did some of the other cleverly worked pieces. The booklet that accompanies this CD provides a guide to each episode with the songs that are features. You also get treated to some good photographs of the show. This is truly an outstanding work of comedic art. I love it!

Cleveland Rocks, as Ian Hunter has proclaimed. This CD includes his recording of the song - the "all the young dudes" version of the song. Tower of Power with "What is Hip?" really moves, and Iggy Pop..."Lust for Life"...one of the best rock songs ever. It's all here, folks, along with snippets from the Drew Carey Show. It's great to hear all verses of "Moon Over Parma". This is a must for any road trip; guaranteed to have everyone singing and tapping their toes.
