Book Description

Marilou Suszko is the author of two cookbooks: Farms & Foods of Ohio: From Garden Gate to Dinner Plate, and The Locavore’s Kitchen. As a food writer, her work appears in local, regional, and national publications. A culinary instructor and a frequent guest speaker, Marilou’s career has revolved around food for more than twenty-five years but her most valuable experience comes from a lifetime of enjoying wonderful food. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

From the Inside Flap

Chef Michael Symon grew up in a Greek and Sicilian family. The Cleveland native creates boldly flavored, deeply satisfying dishes at his four restaurants in America’s heartland: Lola, Lolita, Roast and B Spot. He also shares his exuberant, approachable cooking style and infectious laugh with viewers as an Iron Chef on the Food Network. Since being named a Best New Chef by Food & Wine magazine in 1998, Michael and his restaurants have been awarded numerous honors. In 2010, he was the first chef ever to host the annual Farm Aid benefit concert. Bon Appetit magazine included B Spot on their list of “Top 10 Best New Burger Joints.” B Spot’s Fat Doug burger won the People’s Choice Award at the SoBe Wine & Food Festival. In 2009, Michael earned The James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Great Lakes and the Detroit Free Press named Roast “Restaurant of the Year.” In 2000, Gourmet magazine chose Lola as one of “America’s Best Restaurants.” --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Great Cleveland History book about a Cleveland staple, the West side market. I love the market I have been going there since I have been a child, I was excited to read the book.

This is a fine book on a very iconic Cleveland edifice. I feel so connected to this book, since I am a former Clevelander, and my family has been so involved with the West Side Market since its inception. It is beautifully portrayed, and I give kudos to the authors for the grand job they did on their research and format. Truly a great addition to any Clevelander's (or former) library.

We visited the West Side Market nine years ago already, but we still remember how much we enjoyed it. This book is a real treat; the photos are terrific - including many vintage photos - and the write-up is quite interesting & informative. For those who live in metro Cleveland - or even for those of us who have only visited - this book is well worth owning.

We're so lucky to have the West Side Market here in Cleveland. I've read the other reviews here, and the book. Nice thing about this life are opinions ...everyone's got one. And my opinion is this is an awesome book about an awesome place. Such an awesome place, we've got a LIVE video cam on the corner of W 25th and Lorain... overlooking the WSM and downtown Cleveland.
