Just a piece of felt,

From the description I thought that this would be a piece of thick felt specifically for my ironing board, or at least with a cutout guide as shown in the description. What I got was a rectangle of felt in a plastic bag- no description, no instructions, not cutout guide as shown. Absolutely nothing with it. Plus it has a bit of a chemical smell to it. Really just ridiculous to price this at $16.99- I should have just gone to my local fabric store and purchased a piece this size. What a ripoff.

This pad does really well. It's easy to size to the ironing board and gives you a firm foundation upon which to iron.

My mother had one of these when I was a child (I'm 62 now) She was bitterly disappointed when she could not find a replacement for it...they do wear out after many years of use. I use a European over-sized ironing board, so having to trim this to size was perfect. It was also easy. If you iron anything at all I highly recommend using a felt pad. It completely eliminates those irksome grid marks

I had searched for too many years to find this ironing board cover.
In desperation, I tried one more time on Amazon and there it was. This cover and the felt pad is exactly what I needed to lessen my ironing time and make everything pertaining to it easier.

I didn't want to spend the money on a new ironing board and pad, so I tried this. It worked great! What a difference. No more gridlines on my clothes and ironing over seams works so much better.Expect to have to trim this to size. The best way is to lay it on the floor. Put your ironing board on it (upside-down obviously and with the pad removed). Use a sharp box cutter to cut out the shape. Alternatively, use a sharpie pen to trace the shape and cut with scissors.

This ironing pad is the best!!! I decided that my sewing & quilting room needed a pressing pad the size of my cutting mat - large. I used the Missouri Quilt Company suggestion of covering a board and then assembling a "pillow case" type enclosure. I substituted this iron board pad for the suggested toweling and am absolutely delighted with it. I no longer get up to press each seam, the board is next to my sewing machine. It is large enough to make yards of bias tape. I recommend that you get this product, even if it replaces your regular ironing board pad. This is not a cheap, flimsy foam padding. Ironing is a delight, nice crisp creases...shall I go on?
