3.0 out of 5 stars Compact, Feature Rich, but pushes HARD
I took my new Clicgear out for its first run yesterday. I like the size that it folds to, and the features, but it seems that the flat, wide wheels result in a fair amount of rolling resistance, making it rather hard to push on even a slightly "Fuzzy" fairway. It rolls wonderfully on concrete, indicating that this has nothing to do with the bearings. It did not even...

This review is from: Clicgear 3.0 Push Golf Cart (Sports)
After extensive research of all the push carts available, I kept coming back to this one for a few reasons, the look, the features, and the size. The cart looks amazing, after getting used to unfolding and folding the cart (which only takes 20 seconds tops) I was able to admire the quality of the cart. You can tell quite a bit of thought was put into designing this award winning push cart. The frame of the cart is thick, and uses wide track tires. My friends and family have referred to the cart as a tank, but for the beefy look of the cart, it sure does glide across all terrains (uphill, downhill, fairways, rough, wet grass and dry grass.). The cart has some great features as well! The newly improved brake system is great, and it works just like flipping on a light switch up is on, down is off. The new levers on the cart have easy access handles, and the front wheel locking button has worked great so far! I have heard complaints of the size of the 2.0 cup holder, but the newly improved cup holder will take on just about any size beverage, I have tested cans, bottles, and even big 32 oz sports drinks as well. By far my favorite feature is the cargo net and newly designed console. The cargo net is great to throw your phone or keys into and not worry about them falling out. The console for the cart fits a sleeve of golf balls, three golf tees, your scorecard, pencil, and has plenty of room for a small hand towel, golf glove and a snack or two for the course, the new grip has a great feel to it too! Included is an umbrella holder which is great for hot sunny days or rainy days ( For an extra $30 you can purchase an adjustable umbrella holder.) One big reason I kept coming back to this cart over the rest is the fold-up size. The cart is very small once folded up and again once you get down unfolding the cart it is a breeze. Overall no complaints about this cart other than the weight (The beefy frame is a bit on the heavy side), it was a great buy and I would definitely buy another one! There are plenty of neat accessories available for the cart, which I'm sure I will have eventually. The price of the cart is reasonable considering the quality of the cart.

5.0 out of 5 stars ClicGear 3.0 - Excellent Product, November 15, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I 've had the ClicGear 3.0 for a month and highly recommend it. This will last me until my golf days are over.

Pros:
1. Very well packaged/padded when shipped.
2. Made of strong materials. Should last a long time if used properly and is not abused.
3. Very easy to engage brakes (flip lever).
4. Storage compartment can hold three balls and personal items (watch, cell-phone, wallet, etc.)
5. Does not feel heavy while pushing.
6. Easy to read/follow instructions.
7. Compact. About the size of a carry-on bag.
8. Easy to adjust front wheel (if needed).
9. Good looking.
10. Tires are made of a solid material. No need to inflate.
11. Comes with an umbrella holder attachment. I've never used it, but it looks like a good feature to allow hands-free use of umbrella.
11. Has several optional accessories that can be hooked on to the cart (water bottle holder, range finder/gps carrying case, etc.)

Cons:
1. Expensive - $200 (Note: But excellent value considering its quality and cost of competing brands.)
2. May need to adjust front wheel to make it go straight. I had to perform road tests and re-adjust a few times.
3. May be heavy for some while loading and unloading (about 20 lbs).
4. Folding/Unfolding takes some practice. Fingers can get caught if cart is not held at proper places.
5. Tires may slip under very slippery and steep conditions (while parked).

I, as many others, did extensive reviews before selecting a golf cart .... and this one is the BEST ! It unfolds and folds easily ... IF you follow the enclosed instructions. Once expanded it is a nice looking, noticed golf cart ! My golf partner told me it looks like a "Rolls Royce". I took it out for its maiden voyage a few days ago and tried it on hillsides, down cart paths, on fairways, etc. and it rolls very nicely. The two complaints that I have would be that it is a little on the heavy side (approx 22 lbs), but it rides like a "Cadillac" because of it, and can get away from you on downhills if you aren't careful. The other complaint, and maybe it's the way I have my bag loaded, is that even when the brake is set it will sometimes roll backward down STEEP hills. I guess there isn't enough weight over the front wheel .... I honestly did not test it with the lead wheel facing down the hill. It folds up nicely, has smooth edges so it didn't trap much grass, etc. even after a morning dew; I didn't even have to clean the cart when I was done. Look around for the best price, and length of shipping. I would buy another at anytime, and it even comes with a nice, functional cup holder.

4.0 out of 5 stars an excellent walking golfer's choice, June 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A friend of mine walks around our home course with his Clicgear 2 model, while about every 10th round I watch my otherwise very user friendly Bag Boy cart blow over and dump out all of my golf gear and paraphernalia on a hillside fairway. So the last time that happened, I drove home and logged on to find the model 3 CG just made available. Having made the "one click buy" I can report it's a gem. It is extremely simple to unfold and refold for auto travel, it is wide and sturdy, and it is a breeze to push around for 18 holes. The brake that freezes the front wheel really holds the cart on a pretty steep slope. The little tote bag is very handy for cell phone and or rangefinder. Though I think the umbrella holder being a screw in mount right in the center of the back cart puts the umbrella shaft right in ones face. Model 3 comes with a very clever cup holder and four "buttons" to hold beverages, but I have not been able to find extra holders for sale at any site, including Amazon.

A caution: be very careful unfolding(and refolding) the cart. I was late to a round a week ago, and in hast yanked the CG open and badly mashed the end of my forefinger, at a place on the cart other than the Youtube instructional video advises caution. I must assume this is happening to others not infrequently.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice...., May 11, 2010
By

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Clicgear 3.0 Push Golf Cart (Sports)
Pluses:
- Folds up nice and small. The smallest folder of any push cart I have seen. (13" x 14" x 24") I could get two of these and two golf bags in my car trunk easily.
- As easy to open and close as the video on Clic Gear's site (or You Tube) shows.
- Easily adjustable push handle.
- New cup holder design hangs in any one of three places on the outside of the handle - and looks bigger than the old design.
- Rolls so smooth and easy.
- Great bag straps. Easy to adjust double bungee straps and hold your bag nice and firm. They hook together which makes them impossible to accidentally undo during your round. There's also nylon tags on the side that hooks in so you can hook and unhook them without pinching your fingers. Much better than straps and buckles.
- Towel hanger/glove holder combo hangs the towel where it won't touch the wheels but is still very handy. I have not used it in the rain but it should work nicely to help keep the towel dry and clean.
- Wide stance means its stable and not prone to tipping.
-A little pricey but worth it. It's really well made and the design is well thought out. It's powder coated and not painted, ruggedly built, sealed bearings in the wheels, bungee on the umbrella holder, and there are parts drawings and parts available from the manufacturer should something break.
- An optional hanger for hanging it on the wall.
- An evolution in design that appears to have addressed all the owners concerns from the previous model.

Minuses:
-LOTS of pinch points. Not for children to play with or fold/unfold. Read the instructions, watch the video and pay attention to what you are doing when folding unfolding the cart.

Like my mom always said, you can by the good one once or the cheap one twice - I would like to think I got the good one.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love t his cart, you will too!, January 31, 2011

**Update** I have had this cart for almost a year and I have no regrets about my purchase! The cart has held up really well! I've had to adjust the brake a little over the year so far (I had to tighten it once so far) but other than that still no complaints! The cart has been great so far this winter and has gotten a bit muddy but the clicgear boot cover has helped keep the trunk of my car and my condo very clean! My thoughts below still hold true and I have even convinced my brother to switch from his Sun Mountain Speed Cart! ****

5.0 out of 5 stars The Cadillac of Golf Push Carts!, December 29, 2010
By

As the title says, this is the Caddy of all the push carts I looked at, and I looked at a lot of them. This one folds up/unfolds like a Transformer. It can be a little intimidating the very first time, so I highly recommend you go to the Clicgear website and watch the two videos. After that, you will have no problem folding/unfolding in seconds (just pay attention to where to put your fingers!). The payoff is that this is really compact when folded, so I keep in my trunk all the time (just what I wanted). When its open, the Clicgear is completely stable and can go down a decent size hill by itself without taking a spill, even at an angle. The rear wheels are very wide, much wider that the Bagboy & Sun Mtn I rented and others I saw in the store. This makes a big difference on the course. I like the straps that hold the bag, very secure and easy to hook up. Lots of space in the center console, and many accessories available (shoe brush, sand bottle, etc) if you'd like. Very easy to push and brake, and you can even do a front end alignment if it starts to pull on you (mine was great right out of the box). Great purchase and my back is loving it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best High-End Cart at only 18 Pounds!, September 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Clicgear 3.0 Push Golf Cart (Sports)
This cart is AWESOME!

I was concerned when purchasing this cart that its weight would impact its ease of being pushed. This was not the case, this cart rolls with the slightest of effort even when walking up a steep hill. It definitely makes a heavily loaded golf bag seem like nothing at all. Not only that, but the cart itself weighs only 18 lbs (8.17 Kg) not the 22 - 25 pounds it is listed as all over the net. The wheel base of the cart is 31-1/16" (78.9 cm) wide.

The hand brake is a fabulous feature which easily engages and releases the brake for the front wheel. Since this cart rolls like a fine tuned sports car and not a Sherman Tank you'll need to use the brake often, even on semi flat surfaces. Many other carts out there make you awkwardly step on a pedal located on the inside of one of the back wheels. I have used carts with many different brake features and this is the only one that easily and fully engages and releases EVERY time.

The counsel is huge! Wallet, cell phone, power bars, golf balls and a whole lot more can be stuck in this compartment for easy access. At first I was disappointed with the score card and pencil holder as it is only a bungee, but after a little thinking I realized that continued use of a plastic clip would surely break. It also comes with a detachable water bottle holder that can be attached to various spots on the cart or even possibly a new bag. It does have an umbrella holder albeit not a tall adjustable one, but it does get the job done when in a pinch. The net makes a perfect home for abandoned arrant balls found around the course.

The straps for holding down the bag are the greatest innovation yet. They securely hold my bag in position without any adjusting, no more twisting and sliding or even having the entire bag fall off the cart. I use a stand bag as I like to have a little more versatility, and I have found that most carts don't accommodate stand bags, the stand actuator on the bottom gets in the way and the hinge for the legs give the top of the bag a peculiar shape too odd to be adequately secured. Not with this cart, my bag has never moved on me once!

I should say something about the wheels too, I am so glad they aren't pneumatic tires. I was surprised that they aren't completely plastic, these wheels are constructed from two parts; a solid plastic internal rim and a dense solid foam like rubber tire. I am sure it adds to the traction, but I am not sure how durable this material will end up being, might not matter to me as I steer clear from walking on gravel paths.

Don't be intimidated by the price of this cart, in time it will pay for itself. Riding carts cost about $20 per round and push carts cost about $2, so this thing will have started to save you money at 10 to 100 times out on the course (a year maybe two). Besides, it is well worth the price with its high quality construction.

A note for those interested in the silver model: The pictures on the web don't depict its true color. It looks like it would be a light silver almost metallic white but it is actually more like a metallic medium gray.

4.0 out of 5 stars Helps me to walk the course, December 4, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I like the clicgear for the following reasons:
1) The wheels do not need to be inflated
2) I has a deep storage container plus a net
3) Folds up for travel and storage

Dislikes:
1) Heavy as compared to simpler (older) Sun Mountain models

I have one and would buy one again. My Sister liked mine so much, she bought one, so did a friend of mien, his girlfriend, and his uncle!

This is a very nice cart and easily folds up to fit in the back of my car. I do have to be careful because I have caught my fingers several times when collapsing. It is very durable and will certainly be around for a long time. Well worth the $$.
