4.0 out of 5 stars Time saving device
I recommend this product. It has as many uses as you can imagine...just be creative. The only thing that keeps this device from being perfect is the range which for me seems to be about 25-30 feet. I put one of these locaters on my cat collar. It's big but lightweight and the cat doesn't mind because he's concentrating on going outside. I go with him but in the past...

1.0 out of 5 stars Worked well, for a while... (UPDATE)
I bought this about 3 months ago to put on two Roombas that would get lost under furniture, etc. It worked fairly well at first, although one of the set would go off randomly on its own at night (I ditched that one and used one of the others). They work very poorly now; I've tried changing batteries with no luck.

UPDATE: I should add that the company read...

I put one of these locaters on my cat collar. It's big but lightweight and the cat doesn't mind because he's concentrating on going outside. I go with him but in the past had a hard time keeping track of him. Now I can sit, read, smoke my cigar, enjoy other things while keeping track of him with just the push of a button. When he's out of sight I press the button and his collar device beeps. gotcha! And when it doesn't beep I just hold the button in and walk around until it DOES beep. At least then I know I'm within 25 feet of him and can track him. I'm thinking I will attach one to the remote control next.

I am constantly losing my keys, cellphone, and remote controls. The Easy 2 Find comes with 2 keychain and 2 stick on units and the remote (plus a nice touch they included extra batteries for everything). I keep the remote in a central place and I attached the key chain to my keys and one to my purse. The stick ons I used for my cellphones. The stick-ons really stick and have survived the wear and tear bouncing around in my purse. The keychain units seem likewise pretty tough (I was concerned about that before purchasing). The beeps are loud enough to hear within the house and it pretty much does as they advertise it. Overall, it does the trick and am happy with my purchase.

UPDATE: I should add that the company read this review and sent me a set of replacement tags. In the meantime, I'd switched to a different system that seems to work fine, so I haven't tried the new ones, but it is certainly impressive to me that the company read these reviews and responded. On that basis, I would increase the rating if I could.

I gave this item to a friend who was always misplacing his keys and wallet. He reports that it's too quiet, much quieter than a ringing cell phone, for example. So it works great as long as you're within about 10 feet of the lost item, or it's 2am and totally silent. Put one inside a wallet in a jeans pocket in the laundry hamper and you need to realize that's where to look so you can get close enough to hear it. You'll only find those keys in the cushion in the couch if you're in the same room with the TV off. Seems to defeat the purpose.

Like many drivers, I keep two sets of car keys and, consequently, am usually able to find one and get on the road. The only thing distinguishing the two sets is a tiny, penny-sized fob, which admits me to a building and radio studio. Of course, when I'm able to find only one of my two sets, the one I can't find is invariably the one with the fob. The show must go on but not if I'm not there to go on along with it. After my most recent near-miss, I decided it was time to take matters in hand and look for a key-finder. Amazon offers a decent variety, most of them, it seems, unable to muster more than one or two stars from dissatisfied customers. This one ranked higher in consumer satisfaction than most and, moreover, from a large number of reviewers--surprising, given its low profile, unless it's a model formerly carried by Amazon and recently discontinued. Nevertheless, the remaining dealer of the Easy 2 Find locator shipped it out immediately, and it does appear to be up to the task. Although the price isn't necessarily reflected in the materials, the seller thoughtfully includes five spare batteries (hearing-aid-type discs that can easily run [...] bucks). You may not wish to be too quick to remove the tab that activates the pre-installed batteries. Battery-life is estimated to be 3-6 months, so in the event of an emergency, it would probably be quicker to go to a fresh remote control than fumble with installing a new battery. Two of the remotes are designed to fit on a key chain; the other two are designed to be fastened to a flat surface (a switch for a TV set?). The instruction sheet is uncomplicated, though if the "purple" remote looks more like gray to you, the problem is probably not with your eyes.

Just do your best to remember which color on the transmitter goes with which remote. Above all, make a pledge--consider having a public witness or notary present--that the area where you place the minuscule transmitter (actually, it's the same size as one of the remotes) will under no circumstances be violated, trespassed upon, fouled with competing clutter. The system is only as good as the transmitter, so it needs to remain in a place where you can always count on finding it. (You may wish to consider some similar devices that contain both a transmitter and a receiver--in other words, a "two-way" locator, assuring that if one key is lost, the other may be able to find it).

As the instructions indicate, the range is no better than 60 feet (I'd be inclined to say closer to 50). The remote flashes a light and beeps loudly enough to be heard within 50 feet (the usefulness of the light eludes me--better the extra power be used to extend the life of the battery). Trying the device upstairs, I was able to make the remote chirp responsively from every room except when I tried to signal it from the bathroom (maybe it figured it would be rude to serenade me there). When I walked down a couple of stairs from the upstairs level, the remote stopped acknowledging my petitions. Just don't put too much pressure on the locator or yourself, move from room to room, keep depressing the right-colored button, and help should soon arrive.

Alarm not loud enough to find anything if you didn't already know where it was. But most annoying, the alarms went off randomly while walking with the device attached to my keys in my purse. Had to remove the battery to silence it.

I purchased this as a father's day gift. It was expensive and most importantly it doesn't work well. We tried it on the tv remote and you had to be almost on top of the remote before it beeped. This would be useless if you were searching the whole house for car keys. Don't waste your money!!!!

We have had great success with this product and highly recommend this. With a toddler at home, things do tend to get messy as well as busy for us. Our keys can be lying under the couch or left behind in the car sometimes. It used to be a hassle to search for them. My wife found this great product on Amazon and ordered it. It works great - the transmitter's range is good enough to detect the keys left inside the car in our garage one level below. The sound is audible for a long distance and at the same time not irritating. This is a great product to find frequently missing things in your home. We save a lot of time not having to search for keys and remotes anymore.. !

Bought this for my wife's keys and since getting it she has only lost them once (kids hid them) and they were easy to find. Definitely worth having!

I bought the key finder and it has been so helpful! My husband and I used to talk about how we'd like to invent a key finder - and this one is much better than one we could've ever designed. The remote will find two keys and two other objects. The ones for the keys simply slips onto your key ring and they're color coded. The other two object remotes can be attached with adhesive or slipped into a wallet or purse and they're also color coded. The price for these is much more reasonable than the Brookstone ones. Since I've bought it we've already lost our keys multiple times and it is so great to press the remote (you have to hold it down) and then find our keys! The beeping sound of our keys is loud enough to hear and it comes with batteries. The only thing I'm worried about is in time the plastic piece that attaches the key finder to the key could break. But it seems pretty thick and it hasn't broken so far. This is one of the BEST things that I own as we have little kids and often seem to lose our keys and our remote control to the T.V. often. I highly recommend it!
