Book Description

July 8, 2008
The first wave was only the beginning. Since it's publication in 1999, Clickers by J.F. Gonzalez and Mark Williams has become a geunine cult-classic, garnering a legion of fans and single-handedly revitalizing the "munch-out" sub-genre. Like Jaws did a decade before, Clickers gave readers another reason not to go in the water. But now, it's not even safe on land. Delirium Books is proud to present Clickers II: The Next Wave. J.F. Gonzalez has teamed with best-selling novelist Brian Keene for a second assault-this time on a national scale. The Clickers are back, wreaking havoc on a United States already demoralized and defenseless thanks to a category five hurricane and a president who rules through religious zealotry. Now, as the death toll climbs into the thousands, two survivors from the original invasion find themselves teamed up with a marine biologist and a mob hitman, and on the run from the Clickers, the Dark Ones, and their own government. And as their enemies close in on all sides, only one thing is certain-if they fail, humanity loses. Clickers II: The Next Wave. This time, the crabs eat you...

This is an excellent follow up to Clickers. The action picks right up on page 1 and does not stop until the last words. Even after you are done you want more.
I do not want to give any surprises away. I personally enjoyed this story much more than Clickers. The scope of the book is just huge. The story and characters all go to the next level or dare I say.....The Next Wave.
Read and Enjoy!!!!

Just finished Clickers II: The Next Wave and I was very impressed with the story all-around. I feel its strength lies in the B-story of the book. A religious president slowly being claimed by insanity, seems like a tactic that King would use.

Summary: So it is about a decade later after the events of Phillipsport, ME. We learn about the government doing its best to cover up the incident through various newspaper clippings. Then we are thrust to present day where a large hurricane is baffling meteorologists with its trajectory. Then the Clickers strike. Following the rules of a sequel, the Clickers are bigger, badder, and more pissed off. They strike at various points of the Eastern Seaboard. We meet the White House Cabinet and President Tyler. Tyler sees this as his opportunity to set the country onto the path of being Saved. The Clickers raise hell and are followed by The Dark Ones who are seeking revenge for being hunted by the military back in Phillipsport. Amongst the war breaking out is Colonel Livingston. He quickly takes control of the battle and he soon finds himself fighting a two-sided war. On one side are the deadly Clickers and the Dark Ones, but also a civil war between the followers of President Tyler.

This book is very character driven. The favorite of mine is President Tyler. He becomes unpredictable in his stead-fast plan to Save the country. The reader quickly grows to hate him and hence why I love him. His character evokes the most emotion out of all of the cast. Rick Sychek returns with his woeful tale of living underground from threat of government assassination. We learn that things did not turn out all that great for the survivors of Phillipsport. There are other characters that I enjoyed. Colonel Livingston started to become too cliched for my taste. Either way this is a great sequel and I cannot wait for Clickers III to be made available onto Kindle.

The best news of all is that Clickers vs. Zombies is currently in the works by both of the great authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun read., January 16, 2009

This is a wonderful sequel to Clickers by JF Gonzalez and Mark Williams. It is over the top, terrifying death and destruction, and hilarious in an 80s, B movie kind of way. The most horrifying part was definitely the president, because people like him could come into power in our country. Now that is what nightmares are made of. JF Gonzalez and Brian Keene are an unstoppable force within the horror genre, and I can't wait for the third installment of Clickers.
