About Clickfree

Our Inspiration

Inspired by the fact that only 15% of people backup their computers, when 100% should, Clickfree Automatic Backup systems and accessories were developed and later patented. Clickfree Automatic Backup products are and will continue to be the easiest to use backup systems in the world. Just plug them in and the patented AutoRun feature gets to work backing up photos, music, email and data effortlessly. You should never have to do anything more than just sit back and relax.

Everyone Should Back Up!

Many people use antivirus software to protect their computers but this simply is not enough protection. In today's world personal computers are at great risk, and people that do not backup their computers can lose everything all it takes is a simple virus attack that gets through, a mechanical failure, a few mistaken key strokes, or theft and everything that you store on your computer can be gone.

Why Don't People Regularly Back Up

There are many reasons why people do not regularly back up their computers. One of the top reasons is the lack of a simple easy to use solution that can be automatically set up without needing any real computer technical knowledge, and one that effortlessly backs up computers regularly. That is where Clickfree Automatic Backup comes in there is no easier solution available anywhere in the world for protecting the photos, music and data files saved on personal computers.

Who are the Clickfree Automatic Backup

Team The team consists of close to 100 computer and industry experts with a proven track record of designing, manufacturing and selling award winning technologies. The Clickfree Automatic Backup team is spread around the world including headquarters in Toronto, Canada, manufacturing locations in Asia, and sales offices in the United States, Australia, and throughout Europe. As a testament to the strength of Clickfree Automatic Backup's team, there are many patents that have been approved for Clickfree's technology, and many more still pending. These innovations will continue to ensure that Clickfree Automatic Backup devices are the easiest to use back-up systems. ready for today's and tomorrow's technology needs.

I was grateful for this since I find out regularly that I am less knowledgeable about computer things than I'd like to be.

It felt good to know that if my computer failed I wouldn't lose all the files and images I'd been saving.

Click Free is an amazingly great product and very easy to use. The only problem was before I bought it I thought it would back-up my whole computer. I found out after I used it that this model only backs up the files and not the programs, so if my computer crashed this wouldn't restore a new hard disk or computer. I wish they mentioned that before I bought it because they do have a model that will back up everything including the programs but in their description of the product it didn't make mention of that.

Have a 2007 inspiron with XP and just got a Latitude with Windows 7. Hooked it up to the XP and let it run an auto update to what was already on the clickfree..... Then took it to the Latitude with W7 to do a first time back uo. NO SOFTWARE to fuss with. Straifgt up program you plug in and it knows what to do. after it was done doing it's thing it showed my 2 separate computers, by name , and how much was backed up andhow much space was left. Both computers Seemed to back up quickly for me. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. I threw out a Western Digital Passport as it was just too complicated to figure out how to use it. I'm not too tech savvy...and Clickfree auto backup was perfect for me.

This product has auto backup once you plug it into your USB port (some computers will not power the device though), but beware---while you think it is backing up what you want, it probably is not. The 'factory settings' will not backup all files in what you think are your personal folders. And even if you tinker with the backup settings, you will realize shortly that even then, some of your files are not being backed up----the set up screens are not clear at all.

I emailed with Clickfree support and it was clear they had no idea how the C2 actually worked---that is, how the set up screens should be set up and what file types had to be added for a comprehensive backup of my personal and other desired files. "Buy the C6" was their answer.

I strongly urge anyone considering this product to look at alternatives, such as a blank external hard drive and then using other backup software that is on the market, or just copying your key folders onto that drive manually. Maybe the Apple Time Machine is a viable option for some users.

I've had the C2 for several weeks, and each week it surprises me by NOT backing up newly added files in my personal set of folders. The only answer I have at the moment is, before a backup, do a Master Reset of the clickfree, then go through and select all the folders you want copied in their entirety using the set up screens and then do the backup, go back and use the browser to verify those folders/files were backed up. If you don't do this you will be surprised eventually that your stuff wasn't actually backed up. And CF support won't help you---they don't know how to help, based on my experience.

Yes, you get the feeling that the C2 is so easy to use---but it's not doing what you think it is. Be very careful and check with the Clickfree browser each time you backup to verify that what you thought was backed up----was.

This is the third of these I've purchased -- one for me and two as gifts. There's nothing like the gratitude you get when the recipient has a computer crash and realizes that all their data is just sitting right there, all safe and ready to reinstall. For starts, there's nothing to getting Clickfree up and running, just plug it in. Then, when the inevitable happens, reinstall your programs and slurp your photos, files and music right back where they belong. I hate to think what trying to get a new computer up and running would be like without this gadget. I'm old and certainly no geek, but if this thing works for me, it'll work for anybody.

I have had this product for over a 1 1/2 years, and it is so easy to use. It is quick, painless, and I also like how it stores all the files in folders that look like your computer. I have 4 computers and have all 4 of them backed-up on this unit. It also let's you name each computer (on your backup) and when you use it again it automatically knows which computer it is backing up. Since buying this product I had one computer die (permanently), but I had it backed up, so all my files that are history (dead, gone) on my old computer are still retrieveable of my ClickFree backup. It's a great product. I have been very happy with it. It's so so easy to use (and quick) that I back up my computers often. It's worth every cent!

My experience is with the C1 though I am posting on the C2 product as the C1 no longer has the option to review. The concept of Clickfree is excellent in that you don't have to load any third party software onto your PC that you are backing up. Often the third party software is second rate anyhow and much too complicated to understand and to use effectively. I like the C1 very much but there does seem to be a glitch. If you change the settings of what is backed up (i.e., you add a file that you didn't have before) the C1 has a hiccup. A pretty serious one resulting in a call to Clickfree tech support. They'll probably ask if you have a second computer to run the Clickfree on. Fortunately I had one at work and I got the same error message. So to resolve the problem took a second call to Tech Support as the problem was the same on my second computer. But the next time I called Clickfree tech support the problem was sort of resolved. I was told how to reformat and then back up everything fresh. This, obviously, is at best quite inconvenient and I was concerned about leaving confidential data on a drive that I couldn't readily access without reformating. But again Clickfree customer service came through and I received a new C1 in exchange for the return of the old C1. (I sent an email to the tech's boss telling him that I thought that his employee was a big company asset.) But the C1 seems to have a software glitch as my replacement C1 developed the same problem. If you do not change your backup settings it works fine. If you change a setting then you are apt to run into problems and at least one call to Clickfree tech support. So my three stars are an 'average' between the C1 portable backup(two stars) and the superb Clickfree tech support getting 5 stars. I am quite confident that more current Clickfree models will have resolved this glitch.
