Includes Carbohydrates and Sodium
CLIF Shot Bloks are semisolid, easy-to-chew sources of carbohydrates--your body's preferred source of fuel during activity. Each three-cube serving of CLIF Shot Bloks Strawberry also contains 70 milligrams of sodium and 20 milligrams of potassium. These electrolytes support proper muscle function, so you will not get sidelined by a mid-race muscle cramp.
Easy to Carry, Open, and Eat
CLIF's Fastpak fits easily into pockets and backpacks. It opens easily for quick access and lets you squeeze the blocks out one by one.
Can Be Used with CLIF Shot Energy Gel
Because both CLIF Shot Bloks and CLIF Shot Energy Gel (sold separately) provide carbohydrates and electrolytes for working muscles, you can use them together during training or performance. Three Bloks contain 100 calories, the same as one CLIF Shot Gel packet.
How to Use CLIF Shot Bloks
For best results, consume half a packet of CLIF Shot Bloks 15 minutes prior to activity to increase blood sugar levels. Follow up with an additional one to two packets during each hour of activity. Follow each CLIF Shot Blok with a mouthful of water.

The gels and gues packs get to me, and on long ultra races I used to fight gut problems from too much sugar consumption. These blocks seem to have less sugar in them, or long chain carbos, however you want to label it. These blocks appear to cause less gas and bowel discomfort.
The extra sodium of these margarita blocks seems to help and I find I can do without as much electrolyte supplement. I've bought four boxes of these in the past two years.
The new packaging (they used to come in more of a fruit snack bag) is great, but make sure you cut the top before you start your activity, otherwise they are hard to get out. Also, keep in mind that each package is two servings so pace yourself accordingly.
