I started off with the Mocha gels, whose taste I loved but the caffeine was too much for me, started to feel kind of light-headed and dehydrated. I typically drink just one cup of black tea in the morning each day, which gets me through the whole day, so you can see how sensitive my body is with caffeine.

So I switched over to the uncaffeinated Chocolate version (Amazon's listing of ALL these flavors being caffeinated is flat wrong, just go to the Cliff Blok Gel website to verify) and have been extremely happy. Delicious taste, zero stomach problems, and carries me through my long 2-3 hour runs, during which I'd suck down one of these babies about every 45 minutes. It's true that they go down a little easier with a few mouthful of water, but even without the liquids, they are far from bad tasting!

Clif Shots really do work. It gives you a boost in energy, staves off the lethargy of the 3rd lap, and restores the bodies' balance of sodium, preventing cramps. And all this while being organic to boot! I think I really like that part best. Too much synthetic gels and food makes it difficult for the body to handle. Sure synthetic gels may work a little better, but it doesn't seem to make sense when you're trying to enjoy nature and get fit and healthy. I think the conscious effort to protect nature with the litter leash is very commendable. It's not too difficult to punch a little hole to prevent fully tearing across and letting loose upon the world a non-biodegradable bit of aluminum plastic tab, so i don't see why other companies can't do that too. Do your bit... go organic, and protect nature too... :)

I am a true believer in the Clif line of sports/running products. I started running in winter of 2008 with the NY Road Runners and have worked my way up to two half-marathons. Every time I run any distance, I always carry some Clif electrolyte replacement drink and Clif Shot with me. The difference between running with and without is night and day. Can't recommend enough. Just ordered their post-running muscle drink. I'll wait and see, but expect nothing but continued excellence!

I train high school teachers to teach SAT courses. I find that my brain works better when I've got some carbs and caffeine in my system. I take one of these 15 minutes before "game-time." I also find it useful to take these before/during long runs or muay thai training sessions. That's the more obvious use, I suppose. Both are useful.

I have been training for a half marathon and I start running out of fuel after around 50-60 minutes of running. First of all, Clif Shots DO work and the work well. They act fast and don't cause indigestion and stomach pain after consumption. Since I started using them, I also feel less lethargic and tired after runs as well. I use these on runs longer than 50 minutes (ie: more than 10km). As far as taste goes, they taste more or less like pudding (I use the vanilla and chocolate flavours) and have a similar consistency (maybe slightly thicker). These are worth the investment and the Amazon.com price is outstanding...around 10 dollars less than anywhere I have seen. These will make your runs more comfortable and will improve your performance...well worth the investment!!

I am not new to gel, ans use them on all my long runs. I chose this one as I bought the box as to get the best price (and free shipping!). The taste is very good...it is a little thick, but that is ok, just have the water handy. Overall the item is very good, but the only criticism, is the packs are hard to open (I read that on some other reviews, so I sensed that would be the case). So just have to be patient...which is hard if youa re moving! But I have had the same issue with other gel packs...
Overall, good product at a great price. I will purchase again, if at a good price.

This Clif Bar gel (I've tried both the Razz and the Chocolate flavors) are, like most gels, easy to carry, open, and eat. The product info states that Clif Bar gels are "fast-acting and easy-to-digest, semi-liquid sources of carbohydrates (70% complex/30% simple) and electrolytes."

Okay, what I am looking for is a mix of sugars to fuel my muscles during a race (I'm using one every 6 miles), and the right combination of electrolytes for mid and long-distance running. Is this it? Well, I haven't passed out yet.

I do appreciate the use of organic ingredients, and, as I remember, it does not contain HFCS.

The taste is excellent and it makes you feel great, I really like it for both training and competition. Highly recommendable.

Some gels need to be gagged down- not these! I can't wait to open these up on my long runs. I have to hide them from my husband because he kept stealing them from me. These gels taste like candy & the extra kick of caffeine is just what I need to power me through my longer runs. These are super duper delicious.
