This box set is certainly the greatest Western Swing ever recorded.This is what western swing is really all about - the blues,jazz,country and oldtime pop,among many other styles,are here in abundance. The real treat of this box set are the tracks with Moon Mullican,Cliff Bruner and Bob Dunn together.Dunn's steel guitar playing,Bruner's fiddle and Mullican's vocal and piano make these essential masterpieces of blues & country music. Moon would be a postwar blues and country legend and these prewar recordings show why this superb talent would prove so influential on other country-blues singers like Jerry Lee Lewis. If you want something different from country music,why not try out this excellent set and listen especially to Moon's vocal tracks,which comprise at least half of the set.

Don't be fooled by the catagory. This is original music with lots of early jazz riffs and great sounding (un-"produced") versions of some great live performances. Worth the price. Worth the education.
