Cliff Keen is the way to go for just about every wrestling gear choice. You will not have bruised knees with this pad as it is thick and a little hard. It stays up pretty reasonably so you probably won't have to adjust it. My only gripe is that I have really big knees and the thread at the hem is starting to unravel. Not sure how long it will last.

This is my first pair of knee pads and I'm pretty impressed (these are not sold as a set and must be purchased individually). I practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and occasionally Judo around 3 times per week and have been wearing these knee pads for the past two weeks. As advertised, they definitely negate any impact. I put them on and dropped to my knees on my hardwood floor a few times just to test them out and felt absolutely nothing. These are low enough profile not to interfere with my gi pants while rolling and they pretty much stay in the same spot on my knee without requiring too much adjustment between sets. I've heard of some of the bigger knee pads interfering with your ability to escape half-guards or rendering you unable to pull off triangles like you used to, but I've experienced no such issues with this equipment.I gave 4 stars because one of the pad's stitching came undone after the 2nd use, leaving an inch gap on the side of the knee pad and exposing the foam inside. I was a little disappointed and ultimately decided to just take it to a seamstress to have her re-sew it for $3.00 instead of attempting to go through a returns process. After getting that issue ironed out, both knee pads stitching seems to be holding up just fine and they're working out great. I wish I had bought these a long time ago - they would have definitely saved me some pain and aggravation. |
