4.0 out of 5 stars cliff, June 25, 2000
This review is from: Cliff (Audio CD)
This is the first studio recording by Cliff. It is actually almost a live album. On the day of the recording at EMI studio's, there were so many fans outside, they just let them sit in and watch. This was the closest to Elvis the British had. there are many cover songs here that American's all know, but there are a lot of originial songs most of the US have never heard. If you love early Rock 'n' Roll music with a lot of passion this is for you. Some of the time the girls screaming get so loud it almost drowns out Cliff! But that's a sign of the excitement the British had to this new music. Remember this was recorded in 1959.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Very Early Cliff - British King of Rock Music!!!, November 27, 2001

This is the very first Cliff Richard album, my mother bought for me whilst I was 10. I was rather distracted by the screeching and wailing of the teenage girls, when I initially listened to the LP on my turntable. But after a few listens, Cliff's singing and the Shadows'(known as the "Drifters" at the time)energizing backings started to show its 'pounding' power!!!

I particularly like Be-Bop-a-Lula, Donna, Move It(Cliff's classic), That'll be the Day, and of course, the two Shadows' instrumental greats, viz. 'Jet.Black'and 'Driftin'',demonstrating the individual craftsmanship of the four superb musicians.

To this day, I still enjoy the album tremendously. Remember, this is the very early Cliff, and the teenage flavour of the late Fifties, was very strong!!! Give it a good listen.....I'm sure you'll like its raw recordings.
