This collection far exceeded my expectations., October 17, 1999
This review is from: Cliffhangers! Music From The Classic Republic Serials (Audio CD)
I've been a huge fan of Republic Pictures serials for many years and was thrilled to discover this collection. James King and the CinemaSound Orchestra have captured the pulse pounding tempo of those classic Republic Serials perfectly!!! The music brought back fond memories of watching Commando Cody (The Rocket-Man), the Masked Marvel and all the rest. If you are a Republic Serial fan or just love great motion picture music, this CD is a must have for your collection.

As loyal, dedicated fans of Republic Serials, we found this soundtrack to be one of a kind. When you listen to this, you will return to those thrilling days of yesteryear at the Saturday matinee, when our heros were threatened by Zardoz, the Crimson Ghost, Dr. Satan and 39013, and couldn't wait for Dick Tracy to arrive on the scene.

A musical fountain of youth, November 25, 2007
This review is from: Cliffhangers! Music From The Classic Republic Serials (Audio CD)
Today I whistle Mahler and Howard Hanson as well as the famous, first ever cavaly to the rescue music in the Beethoven Lenore Overtures. And after all these years I retained the great soundtrack music from Zorro, Perils of Nyoka, and King of the Royal Mounted. Since I had not seen the entire Republic collection a lot of this music was new to me. I was especially impressed with Fighting Devildogs which employees nothing less than a fandango for 'thriller' music! I still get a chill from the title theme music for Nyoka. John Williams was no better in the Lost Ark music. What a pity most of them( Feur, Lava, Glickman, etc) are no longer here to hear our words of praise and gratitude for uplifting us and perhaps making us better people.
