There's no denying that kids love Clifford®. The Big Red Dog® has been a favorite since Norman Bridwell created him over 40 years ago. "I was working as a commercial artist in New York City. There wasn't much work, so I made some sample pictures and took them to several publishers. They all rejected my work. But one editor suggested that I try writing a book of my own to illustrate. I had done a painting of a little girl with a big red dog. That seemed like a funny idea, so I made up a story about them. I increased the dog's size from as big as a horse to as big as a house. My wife named the dog Clifford, and we named the little girl Emily Elizabeth after our daughter. In three days I had written the story and drawn the pictures for Clifford The Big Red Dog. When Scholastic called and said they wanted the book, I was stunned." Bridwell, who grew up in Kokomo, Indiana, lives now on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, with his wife, Norma. NO MATTER HOW HARD CLIFFORD TRIED, HIS NEIGHBORS DID NOT LIKE HIM. THEY FELT HE SNORED TOO LOUD, HE SHEDDED TOO MUCH, AND HE BLOCKED THEIR SUNLIGHT. AFTER CLIFFORD SAVED THEIR BIRDS FROM BEING DISTURBED BY A WONDERING CAT, THEY REALIZED THAT CLIFFORD WASN'T THAT BAD AFTER ALL. IT PROVES ONCE MORE, THAT YOU CAN'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER. CLIFFORD MADE FRIENDS WITH OTHERWISE UNFRIENDLY PEOPLE.

This book is about a dog that just tried to be liked but the neighbors did not give him a chance. It is sad the people sometimes judge peole by their looks or what they weare not by their kindness or heart. That happen to Clifford at first he was not liked but then he saved the little animals and became hero.
The same with humans your best cool friend dwont help you in a horrible situation only the person with a good heart will jump to save you.

Clifford and the Grouchy Neighbors was Written and Illustrated by Norman Bridwell, and was published in 1985.
Clifford and the Grouchy Neighbors is a book about a Girl named Emily Elizabeth and a Big Red-Dog named Clifford. Emily and Clifford had neighbors who didn't like Clifford at all! And when Clifford tried to visit they never paid attention to him at all. We he slept he would interrupt their sleep and bother them. When the grouchy lady sang, Clifford would sing too, but a little to loudly and damaged the window. Clifford would be so big that he would block then sun from their plants. And when he saw that they were ever in help he would try but would only make it worse. The neighbors yelled and yelled. But when finally one day Clifford saw that their birds were in trouble with a cat...Clifford vacuumed the cat right up! Then the neighbors thanked him for saving their birds. And told him he wasn't a bad dog after all!
This book is a good book for children. It can teach them that if something or someone does all this uncalled for stuff they don't mean to do... that in the mean time it can turn out that someone can do something really good for you or even save someone else.
