My son loves it.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Clifford's Word Book (Paperback)
Clifford is lovable in every book so he is the perfect character to teach children the names of so many different things. Each page of this book describes a different subject filled with bold and clearly illustrated items that fall into that subject. Each item is clearly labeled so that you can read to your child and describe the clearly labeled pictures. Examples of pages include: Emily Elizabeth's room and everything in it, the farm, the classroom, jobs that people do, colors, the circus etc. My 2 & 1/2 year old son loves this book. I read it to him almost every day and he never gets bored with it. Each time I read it with him we can concentrate and expand on different items in each page. My son also enjoys "reading" this book to himself. My only complaint is that some items may seem oudated but I still reccommend buying this book.

My 3 year old daughter just received this book. She adores it. She especially loves the page about different professions (although I'm surprised to see the woman nurse!) She is so pleased that she can identify so many of the objects, and enjoys learning about new ones too.

An Excellent Learning Tool,
By Darien Summers "Author of The Mischievous Har... (San Francisco, CA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Clifford's Word Book (Avon Fun Beginnings) (Hardcover)
Emily Elizabeth and her big red dog return with a rewarding twist: they educate about vocabulary in a fun way. Each page has a short descriptive sentence to complement a very descriptive colorful illustration that labels objects based on the subject of that page. For instance, on one page Emily says that her favorite color is red. On that page we see columns of 10 different colors (red included, with a picture of Clifford!) along with objects in each column that are that color. If parents spend time with their children reading this book, then it can be a very valuable learning aid. This is not really meant to be a quick read (at least not in my opinion). The book is probably most appropriate for children aged 4-8. It is about 20 pages. Darien Summers, author of The Mischievous Hare, a children's book. The Mischievous Hare
