Putting Modernism Together by Daniel Albright
Putting Modernism Together by Daniel Albright
In Putting Modernism Together, the author argues human culture can best be understood as a growth-pattern or ramifying of artistic, intellectual, and political action. Going beyond merely explaining how the artists in these genres achieved their peculiar effects, he presents challenging new analyses of telling craft details which help students and scholars come to know more fully this bold age of aesthetic extremism. "Cliffsnotes Hemingway's the Old Man and the Sea" are decent, but at times very long, but that is because of the detail. If you need to understand the symbolism, then these CliffsNotes are a must! As always, you should read the CliffsNotes AFTER you have read "The Old Man and the Sea." I recommmend.

It's cliff notes. They work. I think a person should use it as an additional tool towards understanding some of the writers intentions in the book and not relying on the cliff notes to replace reading the book. This is a wonderful story, written in a way that I could not put it down after about the first few pages. It is an easy read and a small book and you would miss out on a lot if you use the cliff notes incorrectly but as far as cliff notes go this one was very helpful.

Having read this book in high school, I decided to read it again (via Cliff Notes) just before we took a trip to Cuba. When the President opened up the People to People Program (cultural exchange with Cuba) in 2011 we signed up for a cultural trip to Cuba with National Geographic. Who can know the mystery of Cuba's early days as well as Hemingway. Although today's youth may find the reading too esoteric, I treasured the refreshing of the this morality tale and the trip to a forbidden land.

This volume covers all the potential literature question types on this text, including imagery, context, and symbolism. My daughter studied from this book and got a perfect score fore her essay on Old Man and the Sea.
