More About the Author

Susan Van Kirk was born in Galesburg, Illinois, and educated at Knox College (BA) and University of Illinois (M.Ed). During her teaching career, she first taught thirty-four years at Monmouth High School (1968-2002). She continued her teaching career at Monmouth College where she taught educational studies and communications for another ten years.

Her story, "War and Remembrance," was published in Teacher Magazine in March/April 2006. She converted this story into a creative nonfiction memoir with fifteen stories about her teaching life. It is called "The Education of a Teacher (Including Dirty Books and Pointed Looks)." Several universities are using it as a text for their pre-service teachers.

"Three May Keep a Secret" is her first mystery featuring retired teacher, Grace Kimball, who finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation in her small town of Endurance, Illinois. She's also falling for her new boss and editor, Jeff Maitlin, but he has a mysterious past and the dead bodies start piling up once he comes to town. While researching the history of the town for its 175th centennial, Grace puts herself right in the path of a murderer. The second mystery in the Endurance series titled "Marry in Haste" will be out June, 2016, from Five Star Publishing.

Perfect. A great addition to the book. if you have highschool boys, I highly recommend this. It helps them understand the book and look deeper into the elements of the story. You still have to read the book but it will help you comprehend the little details.

Purchased for my son's HS Lit class. Since the class was fast-paced with a great deal of reading, this summary was helpful in prepping for the test.

This book, although it has a straightforward theme/meaning, can also be taken several completely different ways, due to the characters' intents. Overall, this is still a great classic.
