I have read every page. I needed an update on the education of exceptional students, and I think that this book provided the information I was looking for. It covered psychological learning theories, IEP's, sample case histories, characteristics, also etiologies. The information on etiologies was definitely a plus because not every book on exceptional students carry that information.

For a quick review, this book is a winner. I would definitely recommend it to others who need to brush up. I have read many books on disabilities. However, I'm an oldie that was in need of a refresher. In addition, for anyone who may wish to sit the Praxis tests, it is a high probability that success will be attained on the first try. The book has covered all the aspects of the testing requirements.

If you are looking to pass the Educational of Exceptional Students: 0353...you need to get this book. I didn't know anything about the 0353. This book covers everything!! See, I didn't get my bachelors in education, I had another major. This book covers all the background of the IEPs, IDEA and how it got started, etc...just everything. I would recommend this book to anybody who want to pass 0353. What a great book!!!!! Oh yeah, I passed my test just by getting this book with a higher score than what was required in my state.

It covered everything on the test. However, it also covered a lot of things NOT on the test.

I took the Praxis II for special education early in Jan '10 and I have to say I was really blown away by how little the test material for the Core Content Knowledge exam (0353) was covered by this Cliff Notes test prep. Fortunately, being a sped veteran teacher for 10 years gave me what I needed to know to feel confident that I passed the test. To be fair, some of the background knowledge for the 2004 update of IDEA was useful, but it might have been 3 out of 60 questions total. I chose this one for the price, and while I don't know how the other test preps compare, I do have buyer's remorse. I spent many hours studying things in this booklet and got very little in return based on the actual test. I want those hours of my life back.

This book was really helpful in providing tips and great information for testing. In addition, the book worked great at preparing me for the test in providing practice questions and answers with specific reasoning behind the correct answer.

I used this study tool along with the ETS study guide for taking the Praxis II test for exceptional children 0353 and 0542. I believe the combination of these two books enabled me to pass my praxis test the first time I took it. By using the multiple choice questions and sample essays, I was able to get a feel for the type of questions that would be asked and the required information that was to be included in the constructed response questions. I would reccomend this book to anyone preparing for the Praxis II exam.

I purchased this book to help me study for the Praxis II 0543, and it proved to be an EXCELLENT resource. After reading this book, I felt very prepared for the test, which is especially crucial because I was a non-education major. I couldn't find any resource specifically labled Praxis II 0543, but I later found out that the 0543 test is a newer combination of Praxis II 0353 (Content Knowledge) and 0542 (Mild to Moderate), so this was just the book I needed. This book gave very pertinent information, most of which was covered on the actual test. The sample questions on the tests in the back were very representative of the actual Praxis II questions on the test, as were the writing prompts. This is a resource that I'll hold onto long after I get my Praxis II test results... it gives you so much important information you need not just for the test but for the profession itself... so glad I bought this book!!!

Update as of 4/12/11:
Just got my scores today - passed the Praxis on the first try! yay!!

I read the introduction section, the 0353 section, took the practice test and read the section in the back of the book. After taking the 0353 section of the Praxis II. I feel that this book was not worth buying and wasting your time studying, unless for a warm up. There was a fair amount of content in the book which was not on the test. The study book is well organized and breaks information into a very understandable current special edu. material. I did learn somethings from reading this book. In short if you have no clue about special education and you are taking section 0353. I think this would be good buy because it does highlight basic principles which the test is based on. Other wise unless for a refresher or warm up for the test. I do not think it is worth the purchase.

I purchased this book to take 0543 Core Content Knowledge and Mild to Moderate Disabilites after reading the other reviews. One reviewer wrote that she took 0543 and this book was helpful. I can tell you that it is NOT helpful at all. Not a single question from the sample test was on the real test! NOT A SINGLE ONE! The constructed responses were not at all like the practice ones in the book. In my opinion, this is a great book to use as a resource as an actual teacher and I'm sure I will look at it again, but it is not worth purchasing to take the Praxis. With all that being said, I hope I passed the test based on what I've learned along the way.

This Praxis II study book was helpful. I took 2 sections and was glad that both were included in this book. The material in the book was actually harder than the test but that was ok because it prepared me well for easier test items. Some of the items seemed irrelevant and unnecessary, but overall it was a good study helper.
