4.0 out of 5 stars Bug Trap
Received product fast and in new condition. Must make sure that fits legs of beds prior to ordering. If you have rollers are square legs(like on a headboard) will not fit or work properly. The item does work in trapping bugs leaving or entering bed. Make sure your coverlets/bedspread do not touch floor, this would render them useless.

2.0 out of 5 stars cheapo
I guess they work in principle, but these are made from such cheap, flimsy plastic... on carpet, they cracked within a week. May work if you are on hard flooring (seems obvious now). I guess I assumed for the price, these would be heavy duty and durable. Price should probably be more like $15-$20. Again, they may work, but I definitely feel ripped off for the price.

3.0 out of 5 stars they work in theory, not necessarily in reality, September 5, 2010

This review is from: Bed Bug ClimbUp® Interceptors (pack of 12) passive traps for bed legs
while these traps may work in theory, they do not necessarily work in every situation. My bedframe is on rollers, and the rollers are on carpet. I have gone through Several of these in the course of a month because they keep cracking. And once they crack, they're useless. So keep that in mind. I'm guessing that on hardwood floors without rollers, you wouldnt have a problem. But that said, the ones that did not crack have worked. They have collected bed bugs in the outer ring which let us know the bugs were coming from the carpet. So I give them 3 stars because the product does work, but took away two stars because they are far from durable.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars, and here's why., January 25, 2011
This review is from: Bed Bug ClimbUp® Interceptors (pack of 12) passive traps for bed legs
So after reading several of these reviews i felt is was only my duty to express my own opinion. Being a pest control professional i use this product on a weekly (often even daily) basis, and in my opinion, it is the best detection option available. with a visual inspection its 'ok if the bed bugs are somewhere i can visibly see at this moment then I'll be able to find them', where as with the climb-ups, if you keep them on and keep your bedding off the ground and bed off the wall, then there is a 95% they (climb-ups) will find the possible infestation in a 7 day period. Of course there's also the bed-bug sniffing dogs, but i've seen several misses performed by them and false positives. Quite honestly, something that important i wouldn't trust in the nose of even the most well trained canine.

REGARDING the physical dimensions/flaws of this product:

Every situation is different, meaning some situations are going to require modifications depending on circumstances.

Example: you have a carpeted bedroom and a bed with rolling wheels. Well, obviously the weight of the bed and someone sleeping on it will puncture the climb-up in this condition, so find a hard surface like a book, piece of wood, hard piece of plastic, or whatever you come up with that will cover the underside of the climb-up. Grab some duct tape and tape them up together (keeping the top side clear). then reapply them underneath the bed.

Example: you have a headboard that has larger legs then climb up size will fit, well even if you can get them on 2 of the bed legs, bed bugs are not smart enough to know the climb-up is on there, so if there is an infestation the likelyhood of you trapping something is still high.

is $40-50 worth knowing you have a bed bug infestation before it gets out of control? only if you'd rather save time, head ache, and money. light infestations can be contolled in 2 months or less where as heavy infestations can take as long as 6 months worth of treatments. you do the math.

4.0 out of 5 stars Work decently well, November 2, 2010
This review is from: Bed Bug ClimbUp® Interceptors (pack of 12) passive traps for bed legs
Climb-up Interceptors did a decent job at collecting bed bugs. I have caught at least 6 since beginning to use them - from first instar nymphs to adult bed bugs. I'm not sure that they trap all bed bugs - I think a few might get through (that or some are hiding in parts of my metal bed frame yet to be found), but it certainly has reduced the number of bites and has also provided us with samples of bed bugs for the landlord and exterminator.
As for issues on the carpet - if you already know this problem exists (which they do discuss on the climb-up interceptors' website, if I remember correctly), then simply get four pieces of scrap wood (large enough for the interceptor to fit on), stick them between bed legs and carpet, put the interceptor on top and voila, no cracking.
Also - for reapplication of talc (baby powder with talc is good), get big cotton balls, not the little ones. With the little ones you risk getting finger oils on the sides of the interceptor.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but could be better, January 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bed Bug ClimbUp® Interceptors (pack of 12) passive traps for bed legs
The interceptor does what it is supposed to, but only with the following limitations:
- The bed must be kept away from the wall
- No bedding can fall from the bed to the floor (ditch the bedskirt)
- Your bed must have legs (won't work on beds with a platform base)
- Can't be on thick carpet or the weight of the leg will punch thru and create a path for the bugs to avoid the trap

To fix the last problem, cut pieces of wood about the same size square as the item is round (1/4" was thick enough plywood in my case) and drive a couple screws thru the wood into the bottom side of the protector. This will allow the weight of the leg to spread out and prevent the protector from busting on thick carpet.

At this point, I'm impressed, although it's true, the cost of the Climb-up is high per unit. Unfortunately the company has no competition so they can price them however they chose. I have had no problems with the legs of furniture fitting the inner well and the legs of both my sofa and bed are square. After reading complaints from others about the plastic cracking on carpet, I went to the lumber yard and had 5x5" pieces of plywood cut to give them a more solid foundation. It's been 2 weeks and there's been no cracking at all. Our place was recently fumigated and so the Climb-ups were purchased to monitor the situation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product! An absolute necessity in the fight against bedbugs, July 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bed Bug ClimbUp® Interceptors (pack of 12) passive traps for bed legs
I had battled with bedbugs on 3 separate occasions in the same apartment over the last 3 years and have tried many many products so read on for some seasoned advice/information.

The traps absolutely do work in catching bedbugs. I made sure that my bed did not touch the wall and that the sheets did not touch the floor. I had become accustomed to doing this before using the traps so it wasn't difficult for me, and it is necessary for the traps to work.
I did not find anything in the traps for about three months and was doubting if they worked, but eventually I saw a bedbug and then found about 1-2 per week for about month before I finally moved to a bedbug free building. I have wood floors and a king size bed in both apartments and have not had a tray crack yet (about 7 months), nor have I had a problem with the powder bunching up, however I try not to move my bed too much. They are a bit large and stand out but that is my only very minor problem with them. I have no worries at all that any bedbugs (if around) will get to me when I have these on my bed and that is a great feeling to have. I wish I had found these three years ago!!

Just an FYI - I found that these traps together with that powder (I don't think I am aloud to give the brand name) are the absolute best in actually controlling bedbugs. The sprays kill on contact but don't do much else, and getting professionally sprayed only lasts for a year (they would return routinely about 10-11 months after the previous spray).

5.0 out of 5 stars Itchy, September 26, 2011
This review is from: Bed Bug ClimbUp® Interceptors (pack of 12) passive traps for bed legs
Last fall I moved into an apartment that was infested with bed bugs. Initially I thought I was being bitten by a spider. When I realized I had a bed bug infestation I was disgusted, when I researched bed bugs I was terrified. I ordered the bed bug traps and they arrived quickly. I used them as directed, moving my bed away from the wall and not allowing my bedding to touch the floor. I also used a mattress bag. I was never bitten again after installing the traps. Feeling like your home and bedroom is not a safe or clean place is the worst feeling in the world. These traps have allowed me to sleep easily again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ha! They can't get me now!, July 31, 2011

These have caught bugs that I didn't even know I had, and some bugs I didn't know existed (such as springtails and booklice). Yes it has caught some bed bugs and that's the main thing. It has caught a few adults and some nymphs. It does give me a sense of security knowing that the bed bugs have to get through this before they can get to me! Well unless they get smart and drop from the ceiling!

I had read reviews about them breaking from the weight if you have carpeting. So I bought some metal electrical plates from the hardware store and put them underneath each one (because my couch is very heavy). It works fine and I have not had any problems with them cracking.

These also are working great to monitor if we still have them or not after being treated. As far as keeping bugs inside the wells, it might work better if they were slightly deeper (they are 1" deep). But I also wouldn't be able to use them if they were deeper because our couch has really short legs (1-1/2" tall). And you need at least 1/2 inch clearance so that the larger bed bugs cannot stand on their toes and reach up to the couch before they fall into the well. So these do work really good with our couch. I highly recommend giving them a try.
