5.0 out of 5 stars This is all you need
I can't tell you how valuable this single resource is. The text is imminently readable and the info is right on the money. I felt like I was drowning in a sea of confusing resources until I locked on to this book. Using it alone, with no other study aid, I passed the boards. I strongly recommend this book to anyone taking the GI boards or the recert exam. Tremendously...

1.0 out of 5 stars Meh, lacking in detail + copyright dates differ: Print vs Kindle
Not impressed, & this is not comprehensive. Try to answer the Sleisenger review board questions with the Mayo book, it won't happen for you. You want to know GI? Apparently, go to Sleisenger&Fortran.com...

Also, I'm additionally pretty upset for another reason as well.

I bought both the Kindle version & the print version on the same day, Kindle...

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful resource, February 5, 2006
This review is from: Mayo Clinic Gastroenterology and Hepatology Board Review, Second Edition (Paperback)
This review is definitely worth using to prepare for the GI boards. It is as well organized and comprehensive as any one source could be. I found it very useful and even answered questions that I remembered reviewing exactly from this book. However, I would recommend a supplementary review source as well, especially for color plates of histology and examples of esophageal manometry and pH monitor readings etc. Overall, a good source.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great source for boards and beyond., February 22, 2009
This is a great book. When I bought it, I was expecting a "typical" board-oriented book (short on many clinical details). Surprisingly, this is a very good source for general review of gastroenterology outside the board preparation. It has all the general information needed at it is very current based on the latest evidence. You can use it as a stand-alone source to read for GI and its size is very manageable. text is clear and enjoyable with good tables and pictures.

Also, I'm additionally pretty upset for another reason as well.

I bought both the Kindle version & the print version on the same day, Kindle obviously for portability on my iPAD.

The Kindle version is copyright 2005, Yes FIVE. The print version is 2008.

#1. the Amazon ad for the Kindle Mayo book says the book is copyright April 17, 2007. That is a lie.

#2. And, the text differs too.

They don't tell you this.... Mayo just wants your money, & Amazon, well they're scared of the iPAD & apparently will do anything to promote their Kindle.

I can tell you this about Kindle (I have 3 textbooks on Kindle & have given up - 3 strikes & you're out).

Kindle is good for "toilet-time" reading material, not a textbook - bookmarking is nearly nonexistant, bookmarks not re-nameable. Can't undo highlighting, no underlining, no free form notes to be able to add.

Read poetry on a Kindle, not textbooks.
