What struck me first was the language. As a lover of words this book stands in a class by itself. Well-crafted, well-structured writing belies a wellspring of wonderful plotting and characters that pop off the page. I didn't dare put it down. This was exactly what I've been waiting for in a thriller and it pays off big time. If ever there was a dull moment I didn't find one. If one exists it's because the author intentionally put it there to lull the reader into a false sense of security. This is no jest, we have a new horror writer in our midst and one who deserves the attention because he delivers.

This is a well-written, incredibly visual and creepy horror story about three kids who somewhat push their luck and find themselves in a secluded and mysterious clinic in the middle of the night. I can't say much more without giving it away, but this is a very enjoyable, twisted and spooky read. Jester has a knack for horror and short stories and I'm glad he has combined the two with this superb horror novel.

The story had every element a good story should have. A stimulating plot, attention to detail, but best of all fleshed out, well-written and well-rounded character development. This absorbing and attention-grabbing work had me engaged from the beginning. The story flows from scene to scene effortlessly, and the author shows exceptional skill when it comes to storytelling.

You can't do wrong with this one - I highly recommend it!

Eddie, Malcom and Darren are three teenage kids with problems. Dealing with drug habits and broken families, they take to stealing for kicks and thrills. It all goes horribly wrong when they decided to rob 'The Clinic.' What should have been a psychiatric clinic for the rich and privileged, turns out to be anything but. Horror greets them at every turn. From the guard slaughtered at his outpost, to the inhabitants who have their throats slit and other mutilations to contend with, the clinic is a creepy house of torture and murder, both of which await at every turn the boys take. Split by a chase, each boy has to make his own way through the monsters that lurk between the fours walls and some will have to kill in order to save their skins.

The question is: will all three boys make it out alive?

My verdict: A bone chilling thriller, with plenty of blood, gore, guts and gruesome scenes. If you're looking for horror, David Jester delivers.

"The Clinic" was thoroughly creepy, in the best possible way that you would expect from a thriller/horror novel. Hospitals, clinics, and the like are naturally creepy places, and even though they may be full of healing and new opportunities...they also have a dark side- pain, death, suffering, and maybe even torture.

The novel covers a heist gone terribly wrong with Eddie, Malcolm, and Darren. They're three troubled kids who plan to break into the clinic on the edge of their town.

With the exception of authors such as Edgar Allen Poe and such, horror and suspense novels are not known for their writing. However, David Jester surprises is his chilling thriller. He presents well developed characters and a compelling plot. Everything was so engaging, I couldn't put the book down. This would definitely make a very entertaining movie.

It's horrific, but in a good way. A very brutal, twisted story that drags you in from the first page. It follows the adventures of three kids who find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. Very claustrophobic horror story with a satisfying ending.

This thriller follows a group of three juvenile delinquents - Darren, whose mother is a drug-addicted alcoholic; Malcolm, who can't reveal that he lives alone because both of his parents abandoned him; and Eddie, who actually has a family but takes advantage of them at every turn - into what they believe is a fancy rehab clinic full of rich people to rob. What happens at the clinic is full of gore, chills, and horror. The plot takes a turn that I didn't expect at the end, and the epilogue was actually very satisfying. The characters in this book are very well-developed, and the storyline is paced well. I had to keep flipping through the pages faster and faster in order to find out what happened next. I recommend this book, but I would caution readers not to read it at night - you won't get to sleep, and every noise will make you think the evils of the clinic have come for you!

Be Warned: This book is extremely gory and extremely bloody!!! That said, I am giving it four stars because the ending took me by surprise. Didn't see that coming. Otherwise, for me, it would have rated only three stars. The story was tedious and predictable by turns. It seemed to me to lack any real depth. The characters seemed shallow, and I guessed early on that at least one of them would turn out to be completely psychotic. A couple of plot twists, however, nothing to rave about.
All in all, if not for the very end, this is one purchase I would have truly regretted.

I enjoyed this book. It was pretty creepy and the title "a chilling thriller" is accurate. Shocking ending. Good book.
