If you already have studied clinical anatomy and still have some trouble remembering all those names, this book may help you. It has some intesting techniques to keep that vocabulary on memory.

However, if you are just starting studying anatomy or if the subject is new for you and you just want to read a little about it, better look for another book. I found in the...

I used this book when studying for my medical school gross anatomy course. When I first read over the sections I was studying in class, I thought that the mnemonic devices were somewhat silly and did not try to depend much on them. However, when I found myself in my first written and practical exams, I began reciting some of the seemingly ridiculous analogies from the book. It turned out to be an excellent help. Clinical Anatomy Made Ridiculously Simple is divided into 17 chapters organized by systems. There are two tables of contents, one that follows the systemic outline of the book and another that jumps around pages but is organized into regions of the body. This makes it easy to approach the book from either the systems or regional study. It touched on virtually every aspect that we covered in class. It is easy to understand and will help the reader when he/she has gotten bogged down in anatomical jargon. Although one should not depend on this book a sole text for the study of anatomy, it would make an excellent companion to any anatomy course.

5.0 out of 5 stars Salvation for the 3-D challanged, December 12, 2004

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Clinical Anatomy Made Ridiculously Simple (MedMaster Series, 2004 Edition) (Paperback)
I discovered this book during the last third of the med school anatomy course and it literally changed my perspective on the subject. Being a very visual learner, I'd fall asleep after reading one paragraph of Moore. And constructing a three dimensional picture from reading the text - forget it. The analogies in this book worked great for me. It was a great way to see the 'big picture' before searching for details in Moore. It is also surprisingly detailed for such a small book. (You will still need a 'big' textbook, though) I wish all of my books there written in similar style, but I realize some people might not like it. For example, if you enjoy reading Moore, this book is probably not for you. On the other hand, if you find anatomy to be unbearably dry, I highly recommend this book.

Addendum: (2010) So, it has been 6 years since my med school anatomy class and I just recently pulled my 'Ridiculously Simple Anatomy' off the shelf to quickly look something up, because I still remember the things I learned from it - and that's a definition of a good book in my book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Masterpiece..., December 13, 2003
This review is from: Clinical Anatomy Made Ridiculously Simple (MedMaster Series, 2004 Edition) (Paperback)
After "Microbiology Made ...", this is the best book in this series. Most medical graduates don't like studying anatomy for USMLE, but this book will really help. Excellent pictures, mnemonics and stories will help you to remember important facts without memorizing. If you have any doubt about this book, just read "Brachial Plexus" section.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great General Knowledge of Anatomy, January 9, 2002
By
This review is from: Clinical Anatomy Made Ridiculously Simple (MedMaster Series, 2004 Edition) (Paperback)
If you want a general idea of anatomy this book is great. It goes through the whole book giving easily understood samples and pictures. The only minor problem i have with this book is that it doesn't go to in depth on explaning things but then again that's why it's called ridiculously simple and not in depth and complex.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Buy, June 20, 2004

This review is from: Clinical Anatomy Made Ridiculously Simple (MedMaster Series, 2004 Edition) (Paperback)
I thought this was a great supplement during my course study of anatomy. It does not cover everything, but that's when you go to MOore...it made some things very clear and easy to memorize that were important clinically. I think it was worth the investmenet. But of course the humor may not appeal to all...more for the visual learner I think...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Memorising key points of anatomy in short time, September 25, 2003

This review is from: Clinical Anatomy Made Ridiculously Simple (MedMaster Series, 2004 Edition) (Paperback)
For sure this book is not a Netter or Moore but it do has some great drawings that can save you great amount of time in learning basic anatomy points.
It also covers some pathology subjects and that`s great!

If you already have studied clinical anatomy and still have some trouble remembering all those names, this book may help you. It has some intesting techniques to keep that vocabulary on memory.

However, if you are just starting studying anatomy or if the subject is new for you and you just want to read a little about it, better look for another book. I found in the internet very good sites and understood better many basic things such as blood circulation in those sites than reading this book. If it will be your first meeting with anatomy vocabulary, get another book.

3.0 out of 5 stars loved the stile of the book youll remember it better..., July 15, 2003
This review is from: Clinical Anatomy Made Ridiculously Simple (MedMaster Series, 2004 Edition) (Paperback)
I am from Brazil, Recife, Pernambuco. And I have used this book for my class in anatomy. No one really knew about this book here in Recife that well; if it was not for me, but my friends after seeing it; like it.
It was their first experience of seeing a medical book with humorous connotations in it like that.
It did not really work for my exams that well tho; because our teachers where warped; when it came to anatomy, but it helped me a lot with getting the big pictures of anatomy throughout the course, this book because of its humorous ways made me interested in reading it. The school I went to was UPE which is in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, in South America. And the anatomy professors were really hard on us when it came to neuroanatomy,
I would not recommend this book for neuroanatomy exams at all as well;
get the same authors book on neuroanatomy; I believe his book is called clinical neuroanatomy made ridiculously simple or something like that; its great specially the CD that comes with it; get HY neuroanatomy. I dint read the whole book. However it can cause you to remember things and learn English at the same time... I loved the joking fashion of this book; making me remember hard stuff the easy way, the way my brain likes to digest stuff...hehe
I used the 1st edition of this book. Maybe the 2nd edition is gotten a little bit better...
Now I remember some of the book mnemonics but no longer the classes...this was as a result of the method used in the book I believe...
worked for me, but it may not work for some of you out there however; so watch out for that style if it appeals to you...
Hope that this review may serve for some of you as a guide for choosing or not choosing this book, as one of your fish out of the water sources for anatomy... Only you will be able to tell...
It will be a trip for some of the more serious students of anatomy, don't take to much notice of others saying that this is a stupid book on anatomy or something like that however; because eventually you could like it; check it for yourself at a local book store; I would. Make sure though that you got a copy of Grays anatomy at all times, for the hard stuff that might come your way in the anatomy labs at night or something like that, or when your doing your neuroexam preparation. HY neuroanatomy ; clinical neuroanatomy made ridiculously simple ? May help also to easy the burden of grays anatomy text book.
Grays is really hard.
It makes me sweat just from reading one page.

2.0 out of 5 stars eh, September 28, 2003
By
This review is from: Clinical Anatomy Made Ridiculously Simple (MedMaster Series, 2004 Edition) (Paperback)
Book is poorly organized into systems rather than regions. It's a little too ridiculously simple especially for medical students. There no are review questions to test yourself. I picked up a couple of ideas for remembering structures but otherwise would stick to the Board Review Series Anatomy review. Might be good for undergraduate anatomy though.
