We used this text during the first year of medical school and it is absolutely HORRIBLE! The illustrations within the book are hard to interpret as the green, blue and pink color schemes makes it extremely difficult to note landmarks and get a good feel for the magnitude of the structure while leaving out some very important structures. If the illustrations were not bad enough, the verbiage is worse. There were several instances in which you had to read the same sentence a couple of times, just to understand what the author is trying to say. There is no rhythmic approach to discussing structures such as the heart. The writing jumps all over the place, discussing posterior structures at the beginning of the sentence, with mention of lateral structures in the middle, just to conclude the sentence with structures internal and external. I would not recommend this book to anyone and will definitely stick with my Moore (which I used in lieu of this book) and Netters. If you are a medical student, there are much better alternatives to this text! If you are looking for a nice bookholder on a shelf, this book might be right for you; if you are looking to become a doctor, I would suggest otherwise.

Awful textbook. Wikipedia is better, and free. If you are required to buy this for a class I say buy the cheapest one you can find then use the internet to get better pictures to study from.
