4.0 out of 5 stars Nursing Student Reviews Book
I agree that this is a great book. It really helps me with my care plans and is easy to use. The only reason it only got 4 stars is that I HAVE seen more user friendly diagnosis books for beginning students, but for that same reason I can see this book helping me in my advanced studies down the road.

2.0 out of 5 stars I am disappointed!, September 22, 2007
Cox's Nursinging Diagnoses doesn't relate any of the Nanda Diagnoses to any specific disease processes. For the novice nurse, like myself, this makes this book very difficult to use. With only 2 semesters of experience under my belt I need the additional guidance which books like Gulanick/Myers Nursing Care Plans, and Ackley-Ludwig Nursing Diagnosis Handbook give me. In these books I can use my patients medical diagnosis to find suggestions on appropriate interventions for my careplan. For instance, I am assigned a patient that is one day post-op for having undergone a CABG, I can look up CABG and get a list of corresponding nursing diagnoses and prioritized interventions. Using the Cox book I would have to have alot more first hand knowledge of what to expect regarding the patients' response to undergoing a surgery like a CABG.
The Cox book can be useful as an adjunct to these other books. Once I know what Nursing Diagnoses I should focus on, I can then go to Cox and look at suggested interventions.
Summary: If you are only getting one care plan book, dont make it this one.

This book is pretty much saving my life these days. We're getting into the 'nursing process' and how all the steps of that fit together and how they look in the chart...couldn't live without this book!

3.0 out of 5 stars Book is ok for advanced nursing students but not for beginning nursing students!!, March 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This was a required book in my nursing program however I found it to be confusing and not really user friendly for beginning nursing students. As I progress it may be a better resource but I purchased another book that is much easier to use and follow. There is a lot of helpful information in the book which is why I gave it 3 stars but you already have to know what you are looking for to find what you need.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, in my opinion, January 28, 2006
By
I had to purchase this book as a required text in nursing school. I find it very difficult to read and follow. Everytime I've had to use it I dread opening it. I have since ordered two other care plan books hoping that one of them will be easier to read and use. My clinical instructor agreed that there are much better books on the market for this purpose. Please look around before you decide to purchase this text.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clinical Applications of Nursing Diagnosis, April 15, 2000
This review is from: Clinical Applications of Nursing Diagnosis: Adult, Child, Women's Psychiatric, Gerontic and Home Health Considerations (Paperback)
This textbook on nursing diagnosis is an indispensible guide in creating the nursing diagnosis. It is well organized and easy to read. The diagnoses are grouped according to the 11 functional health patterns. Interventions are simple and broken down into easy to apply format. Additionally, interventions are listed for adults, women, psychiatric, gerontic, and for the home health care situation making this text useful in a number of clinical situations. Rationales are included with each intervention saving precious time for the nursing student writing nursing process papers. This text does not link medical diagnosis with nusing diagnosis which may make it difficult to use for some students. I, and my fellow nursing students, have found this text to be an indespensible guide in developing our nursing diagnoses.
