Flowcharts, boxes, summary points, case histories, and a wealth of illustrations facilitate comprehension and bring the subject to life. • Presents topics in easily accessible two-page spreads, with mini case histories, key point boxes, flowcharts, and summary points.
  • Provides abundant four-color illustrations and photographs.
  • Covers five new topics: Urinalysis, Dynamic Function Tests, Point-of-Care Testing, Inborn Errors of Metabolism, and Body Fluids (CSF and Ascites).
  • Features a new co-author, Dr. Michael Murphy.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The new edition of Clinical Biochemistry covers all aspects of the subject needed by medical students. Great layout with flow charts, clinical 'boxes', summary points, case histories and clinical photographs. This book successfully relates clinical biochemistry to the care of the patient. Covers clinical biochemistry from the point of view of the clinician using the diagnostic service and doesn't overburden with description of laboratory techniques. Useful not only through medical school but also to improve understanding of biochemistry at more advanced levels for clinical practice."
3rd Year Medical Student, Edinburgh University, September 2004.

This book is very good as an overview to the subject of clinical biochemistry, and it is clear, non-waffly and easy to read, with good colourful diagrams.

This review is from: Clinical Biochemistry: An Illustrated Colour Text (Paperback)
This is an excellent book, which is well-written and understandable.

I am currently using it as a required text in a graduate course. It assumes that the reader has had previous courses in physiology and biochemistry, yet the authors give a concise definition of terms when warranted. I am going to keep this book rather than sell it because I think I will need it in the future.
