Editorial Reviews

Review

"A wonderful, clear, practical and thorough reference book for a multidisciplinary pathology laboratory. It contains a wealth of practical laboratory experience." BMA Awards 2007

"In my opinion,Clinical Diagnosis continues to be the best reference for clinical pathology. I strongly recommend it to those studying clinical pathology, as well as those interested in various aspects of interpreting laboratory tests as they apply to clinical care. I especially recommend that those owning Clinical Diagnosis older than the 20th edition should purchase this edition, since it is much improved and contains new material. Few textbooks have been published as long as Clinical Diagnosis. This edition ensures that it will continue into a second century of publication." JAMA, April 25, 2007 - Vol 297, No. 16

"This book remains the recognized authoritative book for laboratory medicine. This edition has upheld superbly the longstanding tradition of excellence associated with this book. Just get it." Doody's, March 2007

"Clinical Diagnosis continues to be the best reference for clinical pathology." JAMA, 2008

"Henry's," as it's generally known, is an excellent all around text for clinical pathology and an ideal starting point particularly at the resident level. But its greatest strength is also its greatest weakness -- it covers essentially every component of clinical pathology, but by nature this means not every last detail can be included. Still, it does a very admirable job of consolidating so much information. As a resident, if you can buy only one CP book then I heartily recommend starting with Henry's; it contains more board level material on more CP specialties than I've found anywhere. It can also come in handy for attending pathologists, particularly those finding themselves covering a lab they may not be as familiar with.

I refer to this text quite often during my graduate studies. Henry's picks up where other lab manuals fail, with detailed explanations of the test in addition to a basic review of the condition it relates to. It's worth the purchase if you are tired of not being able to find information regarding certain diagnostic tests.

This book is written at a level of a Pathology or Lab Resident. As the name implies, the book focuses on chemistry, immunologic assay and microscopy as compared to gross analysis or clinical diagnosis correlations. Overall a great reference and very easy to read for a Medical Student.

Comprehensive and detailed knowledge every Physician working for a laboratory must have as a source of reference and any physician be he in a clinical or hospital setting as his ultimate current, specimen correct match and source of reference for quality control, efficiency (time savings and efficacy) and profitability and cost cutting for everyone including the patient. You are only as good as your physician (or physician comittees) and the physicians that also work in the medical laboratory setting.
