5.0 out of 5 stars Challenging Questions For MT Students
This is the most difficult review book that I've come across. It contains harder questions than the ACSP Bor review book, NCA review book and the Prentice Hall Q and A review book. If you like challenging questions, then this book is for you. If you just want the basics and normal questions, then go with the other books. It has the explainations along side the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Study Guide
This is a pretty good study guide, however, when my classmates and I purchased it and started studying out of it, we found that there were several questions that were answered incorrectly by the authors. Our professors were the ones who corrected us when we used the explanations that were given in the book. However, that only occurred on a few of the questions so...

5.0 out of 5 stars Challenging Questions For MT Students, January 2, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Clinical Laboratory Science Review (with Brownstone CD-ROM) (Harr, Clinical Laboratory Science Review) (Paperback)
This is the most difficult review book that I've come across. It contains harder questions than the ACSP Bor review book, NCA review book and the Prentice Hall Q and A review book. If you like challenging questions, then this book is for you. If you just want the basics and normal questions, then go with the other books. It has the explainations along side the questions on the very same page which is nice. Not really for students studying for the MLT exam but more toward MT level exam material. The new 3rd edition comes with new CD software with quizes and photographs which I found to be very nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars a very useful review book for CLS, March 8, 2008
By
This review is from: Clinical Laboratory Science Review (with Brownstone CD-ROM) (Harr, Clinical Laboratory Science Review) (Paperback)
Of the three CLS board review books I have used, this has been the most useful. Like several other books of this type, it uses a multiple choice question format with explanations for each of the possible answers provided in the question. The explanations cover material varying in level from basic to advanced and for this reason they are necessarily succinct. For this reason it may be necessary to refer to text books for thorough understanding of some topics, as should be expected in a review book. The multiple choice questions themselves are carefully writen to point out commonly confused terms and ideas (many of which I had not been aware I was confused about!). This book does not have tables of comparisons, diagrams, clever mnemonics or reviews of specific topics, all of which are also useful in getting ready for the boards, but it will indicate which of these topics the reader needs to further review. Highly recomended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Study Guide, December 9, 2008
This review is from: Clinical Laboratory Science Review (with Brownstone CD-ROM) (Harr, Clinical Laboratory Science Review) (Paperback)
This is a pretty good study guide, however, when my classmates and I purchased it and started studying out of it, we found that there were several questions that were answered incorrectly by the authors. Our professors were the ones who corrected us when we used the explanations that were given in the book. However, that only occurred on a few of the questions so overall it is a good study guide when used in conjunction with the BOR study guide and also the Clinical Laboratory Science Review: A Bottom Line Approach.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful book for MTs, May 15, 2008
This review is from: Clinical Laboratory Science Review (with Brownstone CD-ROM) (Harr, Clinical Laboratory Science Review) (Paperback)
It is very nice book to refresh your knowledge before MT license exams. It is a little bit more than in the exam, so it make the exam easier.

I highly recommend this review book. My students have used this edition for the past several years along with the included CD-rom and have done excellent on their ASCP MT/CLS Board exams. Very good questions with good explanations of the answers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book! Wish it Had More Questions., December 14, 2009

Good book. Exciting to find that I did not have to flip pages to get my answers after practising. Answers were right opposite to the questions! This book helped me a whole lot with my semester finals. Wish it had more questions though.
I cannot comment on how good it is for the BOR because I am still in my final year and so have not taken the BOR but I do feel that it touches a lot of important topics and I did learn a lot of new stuff from the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars what a help, April 9, 2009
This review is from: Clinical Laboratory Science Review (with Brownstone CD-ROM) (Harr, Clinical Laboratory Science Review) (Paperback)
This study guide prepares me better for ASCP test than their study guide because it gives the answers to the questions with an explanation; therefore if I get the wrong answer, the explanation gives me the right answer and triggers the memory of the correct answer instead of just being wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful book!!!, August 27, 2008
This review is from: Clinical Laboratory Science Review (with Brownstone CD-ROM) (Harr, Clinical Laboratory Science Review) (Paperback)
Harr's Science Review is probably one of the the best books if you want to prepare any exam related to "laboratory medicine". It has a lot of questions all of them with their explained answers and it covers all the areas of clinical pathology (microbiology, parasitology, micology, clinical chemistry, management, hematology...). The CD software is superb. You can develop your own exams, choosing the difficulty level and the areas you want to answer.

A very useful complente for a book like Henry's

Five Stars, of course!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, June 20, 2008
This review is from: Clinical Laboratory Science Review (with Brownstone CD-ROM) (Harr, Clinical Laboratory Science Review) (Paperback)
My graduating class had an exit exam before graduation, this is the review book that our teacher got our material from. Some of the questions are hard, but every question is explained on how they got that answer. There is over 5 pages of color plates in the book and they each have questions. You also get a CD-rom with your book and that thing is awesome. You can create your own quizzes or take their 200 question color plate quiz. The book really helps. I love it personally.

This book is concise, all the choices have detailed information for ruling out and choosing the correct answer. It's great for a test practice in choosing the right answer and not to look for a clue or take a wild guest.
