Editorial Reviews

Review

`The book is a useful introduction to the main current problems of neuropsychological assessment.'
Neuropsychologia

`This book does more than fill a gap; it provides a needed link between rich and growing cognitive neuropsychology literature and the practice of clinical neuropsychology.'
from the Foreword by Catherine A. Mateer

More About the Author

Dr. Robb Mapou is a nationally-recognized expert on assessment of learning disabilities and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults. His 2009 book, Adult Learning Disabilities and ADHD: Research Informed Assessment, published by Oxford University Press, was the first to summarize research on learning disabilities and ADHD in adults and use it to guide neuropsychological assessment. Dr. Mapou has written chapters on adult learning disabilities and ADHD assessment, regularly presents continuing education workshops to professionals on the topic, and recently appeared on a segment of Dr. Dean Edell's syndicated program, Medical Breakthroughs. In February 2009, he participated in an invited debate at the annual meeting of the International Neuropsychological Society, during which he argued for comprehensive assessment of learning disabilities in adults. He has served on the editorial boards of Neuropsychology, the Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society, and the Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation.

Dr. Mapou received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Emory University, in Atlanta, GA and completed pre- and post-doctoral training in neuropsychology in Atlanta and in Boston, MA. He is a clinical neuropsychologist in independent practice with William Stixrud, Ph.D. and Associates, LLC, Silver Spring, MD, where he specializes in the evaluation of adolescents and adults with learning disabilities and ADHD. He also consults with clients who have already been evaluated, to help determine whether they qualify for accommodations on college and post-graduate entrance examinations. Dr. Mapou is board-certified in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). He was on board of directors of the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology from 2002 to 2007 and served as President from 2004 to 2006 and Vice President from 2002 to 2004. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Academy of Neuropsychology as a Member-At-Large. He holds faculty appointments in the Department of Neurology at Georgetown University School of Medicine, and the Departments of Psychiatry and Neurology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.
