5.0 out of 5 stars International Edition, March 21, 2011
I ordered the international version of this book, which includes all the same content as the U.S. version. I was a little hesitant to order the international edition, but I thoroughly looked it over and compared it to the non-international version and they were both exactly the same - they had the same words in the same places on the same page numbers. Overall, this book provides a nice overview for students and beginning clinicians, including ASHA requirements, how to formulate target goals and objectives, etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very detailed book..., December 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is good but was a little too detailed. I have found other books that I like more (unless this is required for a class).

4.0 out of 5 stars many aspects of speech pathology, August 21, 2009
The authors describe the many tasks carried out by speech pathologists. These include a multicultural sensitivity, germane because for speech language pathology in the US, this is sometimes informally defined with respect to English language proficiency. So someone with another native language in a US school might be unfairly designated as needing speech therapy.

Various language disorders are explained. Therapies are provided, though mostly at a summary level. Some disorders have identified neurological or neurogenic origins, including from traumatic brain injury. Some disorders have very little treatments available, as the book makes clear. Which is unfortunate for the person with the disorder as well as the pathologist. But the book describes the current state of the art.
