4.0 out of 5 stars MA's are an asset to any medical practice - and so is Bonewit, October 27, 2005
I came to this site to look for used copies of this text for my graduating students and found the review above. Obviously the review above was written by a very angry, disillusioned person. I am a former medical practice manager who hired Medical Assistants, and now run a Medical Assisting program at a private college. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor, Medical Assisting is one of the fastest growing professions. In our community, most MAs work in medical offices and are valued because of their training in both clinical and administrative tasks.
Bonewit is considered an excellent text by educators and students. The text begins with an Outcome Assessment with the clinical and administrative competencies linked to CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs) criteria. Our students appreciate the Student Mastery Manual that accompanies this text.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clinical Prodcedures for Medical Assistants, May 12, 2010
By
This review is from: Clinical Procedures for Medical Assistants, 7e (Hardcover)
The book covers most, if not all, procedures the average Medical Assistant would be doing. The pictures of the different set-ups plus the DVD's showing the procedures gives you some kind of idea of what to expect. I have kept mine from college and it has come in handy at my work site.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book was great for school, April 23, 2007
This book was pretty much used for all of my classes when I was in a MA program. I finished about a month ago and already have a job. The chick below says that she thinks it's a digusting job yet works as a CNA? CNA's are the one who work in the nursing homes giving sponge bath's and changing diapers MA's work mostly in doctors offices and if your lucky in a hospital. True, starting out I am not making any more then I was waiting tables but I have benifits and will not have to pay for RN school.Bottom line, do your research before deciding on a school as some of them are scams, but also use any connection you can to find your job and act like a professional when you do finally land that interview.
Good Luck

5.0 out of 5 stars Book is fine-agree about career choice though, July 31, 2006
I liked the book in school, it was informative however I agree that the medical field is not as easy to get into as they make it seem. I have been applying for jobs since I started school over a year ago and have since graduated.....one interview. And this was from a recommendation by a friend. I now am noticing that (and maybe I just didnt notice before) that they are starting to capitalize the word EXPERIENCED and that leaves those of us who just spent thousands on school, who are interested in a medical career in a crappy position. because we can now not get any experience. And I graduated with a 3.72. I am now looking for another field to spend some more money on because this one sucks.
Also, the jobs that hire quickly in the field pay 8-9 an hour. Almost every job I had WITHOUT a degree paid about that.
