It was 1976 and I had got severe viral meningitis as a teenager. Any movement of my neck was equal to excruciating pain of head and neck bypassing the fever, shakes and chills. I could feel my brain moving painfully. My aunt whom had a lots of connections didn't allow me to go to a regular ER back then in Tehran, she took me to a private ER. I remember an IV line and woke up in three hour without any pain. I was so shocked with rapid recovery I asked the doctor, " what did you give me?", he turned the IV bag and showed me what was written on it. 7000 mg vitamin c in 1 liter normal saline. Now As a doctor I have seen many cases of meningitis , all get spinal taps , megadoses of antibiotics as " prophylactic coverage until culture results come out". No vitamin c and patient after days is still symptomatic with headaches, fever..Nobody even dares to order vitamin c because it is " not evidence based medicine". Now reading this book is the evidence I was looking for it. But it is still scary to hang mega doses of it just based on this book. You need to keep your license if you know what I mean..
