A collector's item for those fans of Eastwood and those interested in the tragedy of Iwo Jima,
By Laura R. (South Pasadena, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Clint Eastwood's Iwo Jima: Flags Of Our Fathers & Letters From Iwo Jima (Audio CD)
This CD set is intriguing in that it is contains both soundtracks for Clint Eastwood's magnum opus and it tells the story of the battle at Iwo Jima. The CD booklet contains the bios of each of the historical figures in both movies not to mention the heartbreaking story of the battle at Iwo Jima. A map is thoughtfully included, showing exactly where the battle took place. Clint and his son Kyle Eastwood colloborated on this project. Clint composed the first movie's soundtrack and Kyle and Michael Stevens wrote the second. Both soundtracks are equally amazing...just quite different. In the first, Clint Eastwood portrays the American bravado and wartime feel of Flags of Our Fathers whereas Letters from Iwo Jima uses the power of subtly to underscore the heart-breaking desperation of the Japanese soldiers. An all around good buy and beautifully put together. Definitely worth it to have in CD format.

A Fistful of Iwo Jima,

This review is from: Clint Eastwood's Iwo Jima: Flags Of Our Fathers & Letters From Iwo Jima (Audio CD)
This is a great compliment to "Flags of Our Fathers" and "Letters from Iwo Jima". Not only is it a bonus having both scores together, but also having the bonus tracks found on these discs. The "War Bonds At War" feature is fascinating--live recorded interviews at the time during Iwo Jima; and the interviews with Clint and his son Kyle and friend Michael gives further insight into the music behind the films (you even get some trivia info on some of Clint's other movies). Also, the included war map of Iwo Jima and booklet are pretty cool.
