Most bag closers come in three basic types: Clothespin-like clips (e.g. Oxo clips), Hinged pincer-squeezers (e.g., Twixits), and Rod in a tube (e.g. Clip-n-Seal). There are a small number of specialized variants (e.g., Oxo cinchers, bagel bag clips) that close bread bags by pinching them shut, which we ignore. The clips do not seal air-tight so food becomes stale, and they require that the open area be small in order to work at all - unless you roll the bag and then clip it. The pincers close tighter, but not air tight, and even the largest Twixit size will not seal 12" tortilla bags that must be cut entirely open at the top. (I confess to using a few Twixits for twist-and-clamp purposes for products that don't need air-tight seals and will be eaten quickly.) In contrast to both the above, rod & tube closers are air-tight with plastic bags, almost perfectly air-tight with waxed paper bags. I recently re-opened a Costco 3 pound bag of tortilla chips after four months and they were perfectly crisp.

Unless you need bright colors or artsy markings, Clip-n-Seal beats the competition hands down for three simple reasons: you are paying for length, ease of use, and ease of re-sizing. Their "Mondo" pack lets you size to taste, but the "Large" 10-pack is all that most kitchens will ever need. Each unit has a 12.6" clamp / 14.1" hollow rod, big enough to seal the largest tortilla bags. Because the units are soft pliable plastic they accommodate thicker bags and also can be cut-to-size with a sharp knife, razor blade, or even good kitchen scissors (just be sure to leave more rod than clamp for each cutting). Cutting one in half lets you seal small cheap plastic bags of spices without having to find bottles for them or letting them become stale.

I love these clips (which come in three different sizes), as they do a great job of keeping chips, pretzels, pasta and whatnot fresh. So often I buy a bag of something or other, and I'm confronted with either being a pig and eating the lot in one or two sittings or resigning myself to the sad reality that they will go stale. Now, I can grab one of these, and seal things almost as good as new. Now snacks stay fresh at least until the posted date on the bag, even if they've been opened. I've had pretzels at least a month after the bag was originally opened (but within the "best by" date), and they snapped with a delightful crunch and had a fresh taste like they were just opened.

FYI, if these are a tad too large for your uses, just trim them to fit (they're a bit on the big size for many bags).

It works. You have to place the thick plastic rod under the folded bag crease and snap the C shaped plastic snap cover over it.
Pros- good for price.
Cons- Thick plastic and somewhat difficult to use. Not handy to use for all types of bags
Alternatives- Gripstics. I got these first, liked them and wanted to buy more. However the prices were much more than listed now (got them 4 mo's ago) and bought the Clip and seals instead. The Gripstics are easier to use and more aesthetically structured.
Verdict- If value for price, get these. If value for ease of use, look again..

Tired of using clothes pins to keep opened bags closed? Not anymore. We live in high humidity and have used several methods to try and seal opened bags to keep moisture out. These are terrific. I don't understand how you can give something like this a negative review. Someone even said that it doesn't come with instructions. Really? Are you that inept that you can't figure this out? I bought the large pack, and just cut in half with scissors if you need a smaller size. As others have said, these are long and seal the whole length of the bag of cereal or chips. I even use these on the Costco tortilla chips, and that bag is pretty thick. Yes, sometimes it takes a big of grip strength to seal with these clips, depending on the thickness of the bag you are sealing, but isn't that what you want? A great seal that is just s good as the original sealed bag? These do the job.
We also have the slide on type of bag sealers, but those only work on really thin bags, like cereal bags or most snack chip type bags. These clips work on everything. Highly recommended.

Compared to chip clips: It is simplicity at it's best, and it will last. There is no mechanism to break. It takes up little space. Looks neater. The grandkids can get to their snacks easier. (Could be a pro or a con-LOL). I will buy some for their parents. They will love it for camping. I bought the variety set & then the 10 pack.

I often buy big bags of snacks and the problem was closing the bag fold many times in all direction put a spring clip on it and guess what happen.
After a few day's it was stale put in the microwave to freshen not the same as fresh. Found this great Clip-n-Seal Bag Clips, it was the best way to seal a large bag. I don't need a 10 pack clip and seal and share it with my daughters and they are very happy. Recommend. Also to mentioned can use on all kinds of bags, like to see a shorter version of the seal-n-clip.
