Good idea gone bad,
By still hangin "upset reader" (Fremont, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Clique (Paperback)
The beginning of this book was a little slow and slightly confusing from jump. It also named too many characters. I kept up with most of them and had to resort to making notes of who was who and who they were with etc. The middle of the book all the way to the end became a page turner for me. Once hitting the end I was disgusted at the ending. This definately wasn't a real "clique" because it was too easy to get in and became messy with too many witnesses still hanging around. I guess it's good if a sequel is coming but could have been done a lot better.

baby mamma's drama,
This review is from: The Clique (Paperback)
This book was a good read, much baby's mamma's drama, but it became too confusing trying to keep up with all the characters in the book. The author did not go into enough detail about several of the characters in the book and I did not like how the story ended.

In Between. Not Bad, But Not Great.,

This review is from: The Clique (Paperback)
Okay, first off I usually don't write reviews, but I just had to do one for this one. Who the hell is Kemp? The entire time I was looking for this character, but he never showed up. I guess Spencer was Kemp. WHy all of the babies name started with K when it was 8 different baby momma's? There were way too many characters to keep up with. For that, I just found myself going through the motions of reading. WHen I read a book, I like to feel some type of connection with the character, whether it be a good or bad one. But this book lacked character developmet. I didn't get a chance to know anyone really. This book wasn't bad because I kept reading it, but it just lacked somethings. The ending was beyond horrible, if the author hadn't ended it that way then maybe I would have brought the sequel to see what happens. It's like when you write an essay, and then put the end at the ending. It's very elementary. The ending just messed up the whole book. But at the end of the day, I respect the author for pursing a dream. Just have a more put together story next time.

Back Cover talked about a Kemp,
By
This review is from: The Clique (Paperback)
I got to read a copy from the library and am glad that I did not purchase a copy because by the time I was finished I forgot who was who. The only ones I could remember was Mo and Pepper. Why was Brandy thrown in there made no sense to me, and why name all those kids starting with the letter K. Most importantly who the hell is Kemp that the back cover was talking about? Do anyone else has the back cover that talks about an Kemp??????

Not worth It,
By Goodwingirl (Kentucky) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Clique (Paperback)
This book was not worth the money. If you can borrow it and read it, you would be better off. IT was crazy that all these women revolved around one man, and they were all his baby mommas or kin to a baby momma. A clique usually likes one anotheror has some turst in one another, for the most part the girls didn't like or really know one another..... and why would they, they were all sleeping or had slept with the same man. There were no suprises and little intrigue, there was not one character I could identify with or understnad why they were doing what they did and there were planty of characters to choose from. The kidnapping didn't make sense, many of the murders were messy and didn't make alot of sense. Oh yeah the ending is pretty disappointing too. I think the author read too many books and tried to compile it in this effort.

This is the best book of 2008. Peolpe keep sayin there are too many characters, that's what keeps the book intresting!!!!!!!!! The author made me want to be part of the Clique. It was everything a street novel should be---Full of Heat,LOTS of drama, GREAT SEX, and off the hook characters! I'm starting Brandie's other novel DONT HATE THE PLAYER HATE THE GAME, and it starts off hotter than this one!!! Brandie is the author to watch and follow!!!!!!!

If I would have read the previous reviews, I would not have purchased this book. However, I'm glad that I did. I, also, did not like how the book ended, but the read was wonderful. This book speaks about broken friendships, baby mama drama, no good baby daddy, getting yourself caught up out there, value of friendship....it's just a hood read. A lot of characters, but you don't get thrown off track as long as you can remember who's who.
